Arlington Bicycle Groups Ignore Streetcar Dangers

Hey, Yupette,

Thanks for your blog.

I ride a bicycle and have visited Portland several times recently. Portland bicyclists are up in arms about streetcars and streetcar tracks.

Where is the concern by Arlington's bicycle groups? It's bad enough there are so many bicyclists running stop signs and traffic lights and don't wear helmets. Anyone who thinks bicyclists will stay off the Pike if streetcar tracks are installed is living in a fantasy world.

I am all for rubber tired buses to provide transit on the Pike.

Bicycle groupies are another special interest that's been bought off.

Part of Zimmerman's New Urbanism aka Urban Village Idiocy - construct tens of thousands of new parking spaces in the Pike Canyon, then make everyone ride a bicycle, but stay off the Pike when you ride it, use a quiet residential street parallel to the Pike Canyon instead.

Then there are the total Biketards like Lance Spandex and Guido Campagnolo ;~}

WHY is this the only media source that will show a photo of the Vegas articulated bus?

What is this County anyway? Mubarak Regime West?

Zimmy and the rest want to fund their extravagances by building huge parking garages so everyone who wants a car in Arlington can have two. But you are not going to be allowed to drive, the vehicles in the garages will be a major source of tax revenue. Want to go somewhere, ride a bicycle.

Bicycle groups have been bought off big time.

Where are the Arlington Police? Not enforcing traffic laws. No, as usual, they're standing around at the weekend food and alcohol fest.

Also, stopping minorities for driving while black, driving while latino, and so on.

Another special interest group that gets its every wish granted, using your tax dollars.

Also responding to suspicious person complaints. These have reached the point where there is no time left for the police to do anything other but chasing suspicious persons and stopping minority drivers for being a minority.

Certainly not enforcing traffic laws pertaining to bicycles.

Zimmerman three step - no police enforcement of traffic laws, no maintenance and upgrades of traffic signs, installation of tens of millions of traffic calming in the streets and roads.

Can't the police issue warnings to the people on bicycles who speed through stop signs and ignore traffic lights?

Can you top this one? Guy on a bicycle with no helmet (not a Lance Spandex) zips across the Walter Reed Drive at Four mile Run Drive, the bike trail, against the light at evening rush hour.

Know why this behavior is ignored? The 1% who control everything and everybody need a steady supply of donor organs.

Speaking of Walter Reed Drive, did you see the exasperated blog posting from the Cleremont resident asking how the County can ignore Cleremont's crumbling streets while painting bicycle markings on Walter Reed Drive, which already has a bike trail.

In 6 months the Biketards will be telling us to ride our bicycles over snow covered streets.

You know bicycles are another Yuppie fad (30 years of Yups and counting) when you can't find a bicycle in a local bike store for less than $400.

Traffic signs were not maintained or upgraded in Zimmy's neighborhood, and there was no enforcement by the police, a million bucks worth of traffic calming was just installed.

I wonder if Dick Cheney's donor heart came from a biker?

If you want to know what's in store for Arlington County keep following the news about America's all time favorite phoney 'democracy' the Mubarak Regime and Mubarak's successors.

The 1% who control everyone and everything want to keep us locked down and paying to fight a war on the Third World forever, so they can continue to party.

Bicycle groups are being paid off to the tune of millions a year for every pet project they desire. In return for totally conformity to the Regime's agenda.

Ask the Egyptians why they threw shoes and tomatoes at Hillary's motorcade the other day.
