Who does the $ierra Club think it's fooling about "green energy" powering the Pike streetcar. The coal companies are going to be blowing the tops off mountains for decades to get at the coal to generate the electric energy to power everything in Virginia, including the Pike and Crystal City streetcars, if the County Board is foolish enough to build streetcar systems on the Pike and Crystal City. Any 'green' electric power generated in the Northeast and Southeast is miniscule compared to the power generated from mountaintop coal and nuclear reactors. The 'green' power Dominion buys and resells (almost all generated out-of-state) at a big mark up is a tiny fraction of all the electric power consumed by Dominion's customers.
Next generation of city buses will likely be powered by compressed natural gas fuel cells. Prototype CNG fuel cell buses are already being tested. Save our mountains, clean air, and water. Scrap planning for the Pike and Crystal City trolleys.

No fooling. I am sick and tired of being greenwashed by the $ierra Clubbers, aka Green Democrats, with their his and hers SUVs and McMansions and big boats 'on the water' leaching all kinds of pollutants right into the Bay.
There is a CNG fuel cell bus running in Hartford Connecticut.
$ierra Clubbers' McMansions have one big heat pump for every person in the household, and three big fireplaces.
You have the $ierra Clubbers nailed. Bunch of greedy PlutoCrats who blast around the Bay in their 40 foot offshore sport fishing boats with three 300 hp 'green' outboards obtaining 1/3 mile per gallon at 70 mph.
Dominion is pulling a green charade on its customers, because 95% of the power that goes to customers who pay a premium for Dominion's 'Green' power does not come from renewable sources.
If you are a pacifist who believes in world peace and democracy and do not want anything to do with nations that are dictatorships and promote warfare, would you fill your Prius with gasoline refined from oil imported from one of those nations? Not if you could help it.
But every time you turn on a light switch you are using electricity obtained from burning mountaintop coal.

Dominion's advertising for so-called 'green energy' is absolutely deceptive.
According to the insert with my last electric bill, 80% of the energy Dominion generates comes from coal and nuclear.
Only 2% of the power Dominion generates comes from 'renewable' energy, and a lot of that is from burning biomass.
