Hi Yupette,
I just received a press release from Audrey Clement's County Board Campaign.
Like her Republican opponent, Matt Wavro, Audrey wants to scrap the trolley and evaluate all bus transit options for the Pike. Unlike Matt, Audrey wants to see double deck buses on the Pike, like the double deck buses entering service in London.
The entire Pike transit alternatives process has been a charade and a fraud perpetrated by the County Board and its developer cronies and inflicted on citizens who are being kept clueless about what 21st Century buses even look like.
I'm attaching a photo of a new double deck bus that's entering service in London.

Go Audrey!
Google "New Bus for London" and check out the Wiki article.
FYI, Coalition for 'Smarter' Growth is trying to pack Monday's County Board meeting with its members who want streetcars on the Pike.
Hi,
Rode the new London bus last month when I was there.
Easy to board, easy to exit.
You must mean the "Coalition for Gentrification Growth".
If the Coalition for Smarter Growth is for some project in some neighborhood, corridor, or area you can be sure massive gentrification will soon follow.
What else is new? Regime packs its meetings with special interest advocates all the time.
The London double deck bus in the photo uses advanced hybrid technology to achieve very low emissions and excellent fuel economy.
Crony Journalists, Crony Capitalists, Crony Special Interests...
But where will the people who earn $23,000 a year washing pots, pans, and dishes in upscale restaurants on the Pike live?
Coalition for Smarter Growth is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Resegregation Through Gentrification, Incorporated.
Crony Journalism? No fooling.
Yes, by far the worst is the Crony Journalism that keeps them in power.
For the $70 million that Nada Tejada wants to spend on an indoor soccer arena Arlington County could set up an excellent affordable housing program to preserve and maintain truly affordable housing on the Pike.

So-called "Alternatives Analysis" has been a complete fraud.
The Coalition for Smarter Growth is strongly committed to affordable housing as an essential component of smart growth. We have led campaigns for housing trust funds and inclusionary zoning.
The new Columbia Pike plan has a core purpose of stemming the ongoing loss of "market-rate" affordable units by using various tools and incentives to convert them to long-term "committed" affordable units. Given the restrictions of Virginia law and past efforts by the General Assembly to block affordable housing programs, one of the main tools a local government can offer is a density bonus in return for including affordable housing.
As for the streetcar, we weighed the issue including bike/ped, density, cost, service, capacity etc. and ultimately decided to recommend and support the street car for this corridor. Streetcar has strong long-term capacity to carry growing ridership demand and to support the density that is in turn tied to creating long-term committed affordable housing.
With our region's population growth, the best way to reduce the growth in traffic is to create stronger linkages between development and transit. Mixed-use, transit-oriented communities also maximize walking and bicycling trips. These communities also have much lower greenhouse gas emissions overall and per-capita, helping to fight global warming.
Total Bull-lony. Coalition for Smarter Growth is de facto the Coalition for "gentrification through resegregation". Stew Schawartz, Yuppie Gentrifier of the Decade, 2000-2010. Another bunch of damn Sierra Clubbers.
Stew, Google 'new London bus', Google 'Las Vegas ACE Bus', Google 'Las Vegas Deuce bus'.
Retire from the Coalition for Dumber Growth and move to a McMansion in McLean, where you belong. Take your dumb growth gentrification architects, consultants, planners, etc., with you.
We know all about the bonus density for 'affordable housing that isn't really affordable' scam.
Have a racist and elitist day...
WHAT affordable housing? Like two one-bedroom apartments are $800/month. The rest in the building that supposed to be "affordable housing" are $1150/month.
Affordable Housing scam? Try Arlington Mill which the County owns and is under construction. The Anglos who live in and around Barcroft would not allow the County to build more than a handful of affordable units for the Latino restaurant workers who work across the street.
"Growth in traffic"? Four hundred freaking parking spaces get included under every big building constructed on the Pike.
Another County Board shill.

You should see some of the commenters over on ArlNow. They dive bomb anyone who dares to disagree with the County Board or themselves. They act like they know everything and are right about everything; some in particular take delight in being deliberately contrarian and try to talk over and railroad anyone that doesn't agree with them or the "almighty" County Board. Fortunately, many commenters stand up to them and don't drink their Kool-Aid.
Half of the people who post to Arl Now are County Staff.
Worse, they're 2100 Trolls who don't live in the County and trashing County residents who disagree with the County Board is part of their job description.
There is going to be a massive fight if the County goes to the FTA for a transit grant for the streetcar..
County Board should just do a ZimmerTIF and siphon off the $$$ for the Pike streetcar.
County Board should make the USDOT Inspector General's day by putting together a fraudulent Pike trolley grant application based on thsir phoney alternatives analysis. I would love to see them being assigned to the Allenwood Federal Prison Camp chicken farm.
Hey Yupette, County Board just caved to the plutocrats and will allow Rosslyn to be lit like a Christmas tree.
