Massive Traffic Calming Planned for EFC, Crystal City Adjacent Neighborhoods

Hi Yupette,

No matter what anyone might say at 2100 Clarendon Blvd., the reality is there is no way around massive traffic calming for the neighborhoods near the East Falls Church Metro station and Crystal City. That means many, many, speed tables installed in those neighborhoods.

Yeah, that's what I figured. They can't bring in all that traffic and do anything else.

What else can Arlington's transportation bureaucracy do but bring in more traffic and then install more traffic calming? It's the Zimmerman Way.

We have been trying to get 1 for 1 replacement of old speed limit signs in Fairlington. Transportation bureucracy is not responsive.

Arlington's transportation bureaucracy can spend $20,000 for a speed table but won't replace a worn out speed limit sign. Time to dump Zimmerman and his transportation "planners".

Next transportation planner innovation will be offset traffic walls so traffic flow slaloms down streets. We all know that distracting barriers are safe. Don't we?

Fairgrrl, the entire County bureaucracy is non-responsive. We literally can't afford four more years of Chris Zimmerman on the County Board.

Agreed. Want to know just how unresponsive the County bureaucracy has been? We have been trying the County to stop the illegal dumping of trash and garbage at the Pike recycling drop off (Pike and Four Mile Run Dr.) and every weekend it's worse. Response from County employees is "what do expect us to do"?

Regarding EFC, Zimmerman is waiting until after the elections to reveal how much new in-fill parking will be created at and around the EFC Metro station.

One of the former members of the Neighborhood Traffic Calming Committee told me - the Committee doesn't care about calming traffic, they want to keep vehicles out of neighborhoods.

Anytime we raised replacing and upgrading speed limit signs neighborhood traffic calming refused to listen.

I stumbled upon this site accidentally, but in the few days in which I've been checking it out I have found largely the same ol' recycled arguments, which appear to be posted repeatedly by the same small (10-20? if that) group of people. Given that readership of this site can probably be counted on one person's set of digits, if this is the Arlington Republican Committee's strategy for overturning the Democratic machine in the County, then God help them.

Same issues continue to surface. I have posted here maybe 3 times. This site endorsed the Green Party's candidates last year.

Zimmerman wants to impose another Shirlington on EFC, at least 1200 new parking spaces. The County Board only listens to the REITs.

Arlington County Government is corrupt. Everyone connected with those in power (and that means Republicans too) is paid off in some way or ways.

The County Board did little other than hold constant meetings with Vornado and the other REITs, brokers, lawyers, developers, etc., the month before the Crystal City Sector Plan was approved.

Looks like Vornado earned about $750 million and walked away from more than $400 million in under-perfroring properties so far this year.

Please don't blame 'County Staff' for the mess at the Pike recycling drop off. We have constantly reported this problem to our supervisors. I have personally told the residents to call Mr. Zimmerman about this mess because its in his neighborhood.

Joan, did you see Mike Nardozimmy's performance at the last County Board meeting? Quid pro quo for chairing Zimmerman's EFC Shirlingtonization Task Force.
