Artisphere Insider - Taxpayers Will Subsidize Artisphere for Many Years

Hi Yupette,

I spoke with a PRCR employee who works at the Artisphere and she said that Arlington taxpayers will be subsidizing the Artisphere way beyond the 3 years proposed by the County Board. And they don't expect much fund raising by the performing arts groups. Thought you'd like to know.

I heard that too.

There's going to be an analysis of the Artisphere in the next issue of the DC City Paper.

It will not be the $50,000 they give the Signatire every year. More like $1,500,000

Can you say - "Where's the Party"?

Anonymous said...

Yeah, it's the Party Zone inside the Party Zone. Your hard-earned taxpayer dollars at play.

Artisphere Gala Grand Opening will cost Arlington Taxpayers $250,000. Arlington's Minister of Propaganda, Diana Sun, and her staff of 13 have been working overtime for weeks promoting the Artisphere Gala.

What's wrong with "Gay Theater"? Artisphere is another venue for Arlington's Gay and Lesbian Community to reach out to Arlingtonians with common interests and values.

Thank God there are Gay Men and Lesbians like Jay Fisette and Sally Baird who are reaching out to the next generation of Arlington's Gay and Lesbian Leadership through venues like the Artisphere.

I'm a Gay Guy and I'm 100% for Chris Zimmerman. Chris and Sally understand the need for Arlington's schools to become more gay-centric and lesbian-centric.

Please re-elect Chris and Sally on November 2nd.

Do you want your daughter to be a Cheerleader or a Lesbian Leader in the 21st Century. Simple choice: Vote for Sally on November 2nd.

Jeanne said...

I want my daughter to be a Leader. Please keep your gay and lesbian belief system (abbreviated BS) in your own dysfunctional homes, not in my kid's school.

Many prominent closeted gay men and lesbians support the Artisphere. It will be a place for the entire gay community to have fun.

So why don't you sissies pay for it your selfs?

Jeanne, they have made their lifestyle into a religion. I thought this was supposed to be a secualr nation.

How about a thread about Barbara Donnellan, who strips money from programs and activities that benefit everyone and gives it to vanity projects and welfare for the wealthy programs?

Anonymous said...

She does what the County Board tells her to do - which is why she's County Manager.

Anonymous said...

Donnellan is the plantation boss, does the work of her masters. Mike Brown actually tried to manage and look how well he was received. County Government is nothing more than a Chris, Sally and Jay redistribution program -- corrupt couriers of favoratism only may apply.

Plantation Boss? Did someone mention Savannah Georgia?

Don't forget a supporting cast of hundreds of minority dropouts to clean the homes and provide landscaping services for the producers and directors.

We'll soon see what the City Paper (which is owned by a hedge fund) has to say about the Artisphere.

Susan said...

City Paper article is on line at washingtoncitypaper dot com. Pro "re-segregation through gentrification" City Paper is owned by a very aggressive hedge fund. About 90% of the article is Yuppie hype by and for the corporations and organizations who will profit from the Artisphere - as long as Arlington taxpayers keep the Artisphere going. Nothing said about Arlington's middle class whose recreation and parks programs were stripped to fund the Artisphere. Nothing said about the lack of fund raising and philanthropy by the Artisphere's wealthy backers. Bottom line: anything that the local Yupscale print media may report that will actually benefit the middle class inside the beltway is purely coincidental.

Heard anything on National Yupublic Radio or seen anything on the Yupublic Broadcasting System that has anything to do with the middle class?

I wonder if McCaffrey will be fully "comped" for covering the taxpayer-funded Artisphere Gala?
