County Government Approves More Infill Social Crowding

Hello,

In the event you haven't noticed the New Urbanism-addicted Arlington County Board approved a Phased Development Site Plan for Crystal City on March 21st and redevelopment of the Marriott Hotel site in Rosslyn on March 24th that will greatly increase the density of both areas under development.

Same County Board that's calling for social distancing now the CV epidemic has gathered momentum. Same County Board that's re-purposing streets, sidewalks, plazas, trails, neighborhood parks, National Parks, open spaces for high-density Millennialization.

Significant and serious social crowding is presently occurring on Arlington's streets, sidewalks, plazas, trails, neighborhood parks and other open spaces, as the Urbanist County Board has closed all community sports-recreation-entertainment venues.

But social crowding is what New Urbanism aka growth-for-the-sake-of-growth infill gentrification is all about. One can only HOPE that CV 19 will respond to anti-viral meds as the yearly influenza vaccines confer some immunity and anti-HIV meds put HIV into long-term remission.

Consequently, AY cannot recommend re-electing any incumbent Urbanist elected to public office in (and around) Arlington. They are all dedicated to turning what was once a socially and economically diverse County into an infilled gentrified mess.

Dump Libby Garvey...Arlington's First Certified Bicycle Nut Case. Why the F*** do I have to step off the sidewalk to allow bicyclists to zoom by on a narrow sidewalk from my condo's parking lot to my condo unit while carrying groceries? Because Libby Garvey let her fellow bicycle nut cases do their free range thing 24/7/365.

Libby Garvey drives around in her big SUV telling everyone to ride bicycles 24/7/365. What a Jerk.

Libby is the Cult Mom of Phoenix Bikes...the Millennial Maniacs you see riding Free Range all over Arlington.

Thanks to Libby, our neighborhood streets in 22205 are jammed by cut through traffic to infilled 22201.

What else could you expect? Same message broadcast over multiple channels for the past 15 years: Party's Over Here In Arlington.

Libby Garvey is a TOTAL NUT CASE about Bicycles, Bicycles, Bicycles 24/7/365

Has anyone in County Government figured out what happens to the County's "Party's Over Here In Arlington" development and redevelopment agenda if CV 19 mutates into CV 21 in a year?

What will be done with $130 million worth of sports and recreation infrastructure under construction - Lubber Run and Aquatics Center?

In the event you haven't noticed Arlington has already reached the point where streets aren't safe for motor vehicles and sidewalks and trails aren't safe for pedestrians.

Right. The County is installing a crosswalk every 50 feet and last CB Meeting approved 1900 new parking spaces in Rosslyn and Crystal City and is narrowing streets everywhere. Also, there is about zero workforce housing being constructed in the County for low-wage workers needed for all the bars, restaurants, retail, etc., being constructed in mixed-use redevelopment. Sidewalks have been re-purposed into "open space" for runners, bicycles, skateboards, and scooters.

Then there's Smart Growth 3.0 - Missing Middle Mega infill, Millennials raising 3 kids in a 2-bedroom condo, front lawns in what's left of SFH neighborhoods becoming on-leash dog parks.

See what's on the County Board's April meeting agenda.

How about all the festivals, Pike Jazz Festival, Octoberfest, and so on?

Only thing that will save Vibrant Smart Growth Arlington is if a vaccine is developed that provides long-term immunity from CV 19.

Cops kicked everyone out of the parks, playgrounds, etc. Now the residents of nearby condos are exercising on our neighborhood SFH front lawns. Dump Dumb Growth.

Millennials suck.

Big assisted living complex to be approved on April 19th in a parcel zoned for single family homes.

Just retire and move out of the County...or move out before you retire.

What random testing would prove - 20-somethings are spreading CV without showing symptoms.

The police, park rangers, etc., are very good at keeping people out of the parks, don't try to take a shortcut across a park, use the crowded sidewalks.

Re-open the County for social activities? I don't think so.

Arlington County Board meetings have been rescheduled. Will be virtual. Goodbye to what's left of Democracy. Sheeple are just nuisances to the politricksters.

What were they doing 3 months ago? Feuding over impeaching Donald Trump.

CB made infill deals last CB Meeting that will pack more people into already densely populated neighborhoods.

We all better hope a one time prevention for CV19 will be available soon.

Stay off the trails. Crowded and also a safety hazard from reckless bicyclists.

Anonymous said...

Yes. Stay off the trails. Even the chamber of commerce booster local media are saying the trails are not safe.

Open spaces in parks are re-opening tomorrow. About time.
