Water Mains...Not Bike Lanes
Hello, Yupette,
How much more is this County going to spend on new dedicated bicycle infrastructure and renovating older bicycle infrastructure to benefit what's become a cult? How many Arlington residents are riding bicycles today - it's 30 degrees and snowing? How many water main breaks will have to be repaired this Winter? How many times will we have to boil tap water because large diameter water mains break and take days to repair?
New ductile iron water mains last 100 years and are highly resistant to cracking. Bike lane infrastructure lasts, what, 3 years? How did we get to the point where sports, recreation, and arts consume hundreds of millions every year, including tens of millions for new sports, recreation, and arts infrastructure?
Then there are the injuries caused by bicycles and scooters, which are essentially ridden free-range, and the demands on already-stressed ACPD and ACFD. How much does that cost us?

Then there's the deteriorated stormwater system that needs massive upgrades.
How did we reach the point where a cult determines the County's transportation priorities, with the cult's agenda having the first priority?
"Public Safety" in Arlington means ACPD responds to calls about delivery vehicles parked in bike lanes, not DES ensuring our drinking water is safe to drink.
How much is the County spending on water main replacement this year? How much on bicycle infrastructure?
I'm taking a vacation aka tine-out from "vibrant" Arlington this Summer, if for no other reason than the County is a Millennial Zoo, with worse to come. First, and Worst, Millennials are 38 going on 23 with kids in middle school still paying off student loans drinking what should be their kids' college tuition savings away in bro n hoe bars.
Blame Millennial Media's First Bro, Scott Brodbeck.
And his Surrogate / Puppet Commenters.
Who is/are ordering ACPD not to enforce Arlington's traffic ordinances and regulations regarding bicycles and e-scooters? Libby Garvey? Mark Schwartz? Who? Whom?
Time to consider long term options.
Why bother with this blog anymore? We know where the County is going...Seattle East.
County Board is going to approve $4 million on Saturday's Consent Agenda to line a 36 inch 50 year-old water main with a history of problems.
The Bicycle Cult that controls Arlington's transportation agenda (Libby Garvey, Chief Lobbyist) wants dedicated bike lanes or the bikester fanatics will continue to ride recklessly on the sidewalk.
Seattle East? When will tents start appearing under underpasses? 2021? 2022? 2023?
Moved from Arlington to Montana in 2012. Sitting here tonite eating pizza in Butte. Accordingly, thought of you all. God speed.
I teach, and July and August I'm spending $4,000 to rent a home in a place with cooler Summers, a lot less traffic, and far away from Smart Growth. Maybe retire there in a few years.
You mean Scott BROdbeck? Arlington's First Bro.
