Tie: Wash Post and ArlNow for 'Worst Local Journalism in 2019'

Late last month AY polled its contributors to ask which local news outlet published the worst local journalism during 2019. Results were a virtual tie between the Washington Post and the ArlNow News blog. The Post narrowly edged ArlNow. Here's a sample of comments we received about the Post, ArlNow and the other local media, e.g., Sun Gazette.

Bezos Post deliberately withheld information About Christian Dorsey's and Katie Cristol's pay-to-play bribes from WMATA's transit unions (under investigation by the Feds) until after the 2019 elections so Amazon could get a subsidized "affordable housing" deal from Arlington County for Amazon employees.

Then there's ArlNow, which is not only all about promoting the Bro-n-Hoe Millennial 38-going-on-23 Urbanist "Culture" but employs a cast of puppet characters who trash anyone who doesn't "go along with the program".

Local Media aka ArlNow love that big $$$ revenue from publishing Progressive Urbanist ads, infomercials, and press releases as "News".

Worst is ArlNow, aka Scott Brodbeck, who lets the freaks run the circus, addicts run the pharmacy, and nut cases run the mental hospital aka behavioral health center.

The Region's so-called "Progressive" Editors and Publishers don't give a rat'$ a$$ about the environment. Like the Progressive Pols they endorse they want to get rich and richer boosting paving over everything, whether it's with McMansions or townhouse infill.

Jeff Bezos could have made the Post over to be a truly great national paper. All he did was raise the newsstand price for the same old biased news.

Correction: Scott Brodbeck owns and publishes a Sesame Street for Progressive Millennials he calls "ArlNow".

Arlington has 5 years left as a suburb, if you haven't seen and heard what the Progressive-Socialist-Urbanists have planned with their Media Accomplices.

Then there's the Falls Church News-Press ;~}

Post is by far the worst. Several Independents and perhaps a couple Republicans would have been elected to the County Board and School Board over the past couple decades if the Post didn't endorse the status quo, election after election, and between elections.

What's the Post today? Mainly a Jeff Bezos insurance policy against Amazon being broken up for anti-trust.

I was in college in Northern NJ 40 years ago. AT & T had the same rapport with the NY/NJ Media as Amazon has with the DC/MD/VA Media today.

How many more years will Amazon hold a monopoly over retail sales in the USA? Not many.

I hope amazon goes down in flames. I have not purchased anything from Amazon or any if it’s companies in more than a year.

ArlNow is to Millennials as Sesame Street is to children.

Post's so-called "Journalists" are pissed that they were attacked for not reporting Christian Dorsey's campaign contribution antics until after the last elections.

I and others think Amazon will be broken up by the Feds for anti-trust within a few years, and that will put the brakes on HQ2 in Arlington. Then what?

Post should report that Amazon employees who earn between $50,000 and $100,000 are being "comped" with taxpayer-subsidized "affordable housing" by County Government at $400,000+ per unit new construction cost.

ArlNow - Published by a Bicycle Bozo and includes lots of complaints about too few dedicated bike lanes, juxtaposed with increasing reports about the mess from deteriorated water mains.

Appears that ArlNow utilizes so-called progressive puppets to trash anyone who doesn't go along with whatever comes out of 2100 Clarendon Blvd by way of the Arlington Democratic Party and Coalition for Smarter Growth. The goal of ArlNow appears to be the total urbanization of the County.

Who gets / will get the so-called "affordable housing"? Not the work force employed by Arlington's bars, restaurants, and retail. How far out in the outer burbs do the underpaid employees of the local media live aka underpaid local media employees who write the advertising and infomercials for the in-fill McMansions?

ArlNow puppet commenters are worse than ever. Post is a company newspaper in what's becoming a company town.

There is ZERO investigative journalism inside the beltway except for the constant investigation of the Trump Administration.

I would LOVE to see a feature film made about the antics of local newsies.

As of today Christian Dorsey hasn't returned the $10,000 "contribution" from WMATA's transit union. What are the Media going to say about it?

Anonymous said...

FBI is investigating both Cristol and Dorsey.

"Democracy Dies in Darkness"

Total BS

Reality: Post Owner Jeff Bezos uses the Post for everything for preemptive attacks on the Trump Administration to preventing Amazon from a long-overdue Federal anti-trust breakup, to boosting using Amazon's $20 million Crystal City "affordable housing" contribution for upscale subsidized housing for Amazon techies earning $50,000 - $100,000.

ArlNow is by far the worst. Owner and Publisher uses surrogates who post comments trashing people Scott doesn't like.

Anonymous said...

Brodbeck uses at least 6 surrogates to post comments boosting Dumb Growth Urbanization and trashing anyone who opposes Urbanization just below the in-fill gentrification ArlNow infomercials he profits from.

FYI - No local media owner lives anywhere near the massive "Smart Growth" infill their on-line and print publications inflict on us via ads and infomercials.

Brodbeck recently purchased and lives in a 62 year old single family home on a large lot in Country Club Hills.
