No contest this year. Democratic County Board incumbents Katie Cristol and Christian Dorsey are running on a platform of trashing Donald Trump, continually hiding behind Virginia's Dillon Rule, allowing the County to suffer from a devastating flood and a significant drought within 4 months, and having serious conflict of interest issues from accepting many thousands in campaign contributions from WMATA unions who they are supposed to be overseeing via the NVTC Board and WMATA Board.
Then there's their New Urbanist agenda. After 40 years of redeveloping Arlington New Urbanism has become a growth-for-the-sake-of-growth monster that's devouring formerly livable neighborhoods with more cars and vehicle trips, ever-more unaffordable housing, and continuing destruction of open space and the mature tree canopy. With the purpose of making the County an expensive urbanized mess within ten years.
Enough is enough. We deserve better, much better, from a bloated County Government and what we pay in ever-increasing taxes, which seem to only go for more Taj Mahal infrastructure for the so-called "Progressives'" favored special interests.
Therefore AY endorses Audrey Clement for Arlington County Board.

If it weren't for the greedy media whose publishers, editors, and reporters are Trump hating smart growth and chamber of commerce boosters we'd have independents on the County Board. Maybe a third party person too. ArlNow is the worst but the Sun Gazette and Post aren't far behind. They're making the next two elections referenda on Donald Trump. Local media won't publish PSAs urging residents to water trees during the current drought. Trees are evil and are nuisances that get in the way of new McMansions which the greedy media love to advertise..
ArlNow Owner and Publisher Scott Brodbeck kicked an independent who posted a photo of drought-damaged trees on ArlNow comments off ArlNow permanently. ArlNow has not run PSAs about tree watering but does publish lots of ads for new McMansions where trees have been clear cut from the lot.
I'm also voting for the other Independent County Board candidate, Arron O'Dell.
According to WMATA's own ethical guidelines WMATA's Board members are required to avoid behavior that even appears to be a conflict of interest.
Local Media are shills for the status quo, the way local media owners get rich. Don't expect to see anything critical of the County Board, County Government, Amazon, anything that has to do with the status quo on ArlNow.
Washington Post is the worst of local media. Amazon's company newspaper in what's becoming a company town. ArlNow is second worst. Imagine a chamber of commerce booster local monthly magazine full of letters to the editor trashing residents who don't go along with the chamber's program. That's ArlNow every day.
