Replacing Brick Sidewalk Paving is No Big Deal

Hi,

Thanks for this blog.

I live in the B-R Corridor and the brick sidewalks here continue to deteriorate. What's the reason not to replace them with concrete? No good reason. I called one of the local construction companies that bids on County public infrastructure projects and asked. Was told that the bricks are removed and recycled, sand and gravel under the bricks is leveled, concrete is poured. Not a big deal unless other improvements are made, like new curbs. So why not just replace the bricks and make the sidewalks in the Corridor much safer? Funds being used for dedicated bicycle lanes? Or what?

County would rather spend the $$$ on new bike lanes.

Why do we have to look at, let alone walk on, deteriorated brick sidewalks? Agree. Recycle the bricks and replace with concrete.

In the context of the flooding that just occurred, how permeable are brick sidewalks?

Before anything else, the County must conduct a comprehensive survey of the County's storm water system.

Yes, how about an AY posting about stormwater / infrastructure?

If streets, sidewalks, and plazas in the B-R Corridor are to be used for recreation, how about repaving them?

I live on the edge of the B-R corridor. Our streets are being re-purposed for informal recreation use (scooters) by Corridor residents.

Completely Agree. Why is this County spending tens of millions on public infrastructure that's a gimme to a Cult? Same Idiots who are now saying we should all ride bicycles in the Winter?
