Hi, AY contributors wanted a discussion about the level of County Government's environmental responsibility. So AY is asking for your thoughts.

No. This month's events prove County Government is NOT environmentally responsive and responsible.

November County Board election should be a referendum about environmental protection. No way I will vote for incumbents who caused significant problems like flooding because of their continual infill urbanization of suburban neighborhoods,

Regarding Arlington County and Environmental Protection the County has been an EPIC FAIL over the past 30 years.

Agree. Everything from no concern about decades of future resident exposure from 5G millimeter microwaves to no concern about storm water from decades of residential infill.

Arlington's Local Media are little more than shills for the status quo. Don't expect anything from them but more of the same.

I blame Arlington Democrats for decades of one-party rule that continually put their developer cronies' agendas over wise environmental stewardship.

ArlNow is the WORST by far...constant infomercials for more massive infill.

Now they want massive infill on Glebe Road, parking for 965 vehicles within walking distance of 2 Metro stations. Enough !! Take it to Beautiful Baltimore.

I am not voting for incumbents and I am writing-in Theo Stamos for Commonwealth's Attorney.

Westover Residents are suing the County for the County's failure to perform a historic designation study. That's led to massive tree destruction whereby County Board's for-profit and non-profit cronies redevelop Westover's older garden apartments into townhomes.

I am also voting for the Independents for County Board and writing in Theo Stamos for Commonwealth's Attorney.

How about air pollution? County has been on a 'More Car Diet' for decades. And the new vehicles people are buying are big gas guzzler SUVs.

Agree. Electric vehicles? What electric vehicles? What are electric vehicles?

Anonymous said...

Electric vehicles charged by solar panels on the garage roof? What are 'solar panels'?

Anonymous said...

LOL. Every Arlington Mommy has to have a big SUV (preferably a Lexus, Mercedes, Range Rover) to drop off the kid(s) at daycare, school, soccer practice, everywhere for everything.

Tell ArlNow you're not visiting its Urbanist in-fill-for-the-sake-of-infill environmental destruction Web site.

Ten years of LEED Silver buildings with no renewable energy on-site and bonus density to developers for taxpayer-subsidized apartments for families earning $90,000 / year with 2 expensive SUVs in the parking garage? Dump the Democrats!!!

Anonymous said...

Correction: Dump the Progressive Socialists (Talk Like Bernie...Live Like Hillary) who've Ruled and Ruined the County since the Reign of Albert and Ellen.

Bernie owns 3 upscale homes in Vermont.

Taj Mahal doggie spas, bus shelters, dedicated bike lanes, soccer fields, park and rec buildings...but no stormwater upgrades when neighborhoods are infilled.

A tent can be certified LEED Silver.

Anonymous said...

What will their excuses be if Democrats control the Virginia General Assembly next year?

Anonymous said...

The Ultimate Smart Growth / New Urbanism Scam - taxpayer-subsidized 'affordable' housing for families earning $90,000 and owning 2 SUVs parked underneath a Taj Mahal building constructed at a cost of $450,000 / unit and LEED Silver with no renewable energy on-site.

You must be referring to The Berkeley, under construction on S. Glebe Rd.

What excuses do Democrats in the House of Delegates make this year?

Anonymous said...

Arlington is such a solar energy backwater it's embarrassing.

FYI - Latest about the Regime's Transportation Priorities: Arlington's 'Progressive' Democrats want everyone to store their motor vehicles in Winter and ride bicycles instead, thanks to a County Board Member who's a bicycle nutcase.

Time for Libby Garvey to retire to bike-a-holic Portland.
