My name is Cindy and I live in Ballston. I'm an Independent and I have posted various comments on the ArlNow news blog criticizing Arlington County Government and one-party (i.e., Progressive Democrat) control of Arlington County Government for going-on 40 years.
This morning I received a campaign e-mail from Reid Goldstein's campaign for Arlington School Board with a photo of a campaign event held over the weekend. Posting the above photo got me banned from posting anything more on ArlNow.
More than obvious to me that, like their Limo Liberal parents decades ago, Arlington's so-called 'Progressives' talk like Socialists but live like wealthy Democrats in the past and present (e.g., the Clintons, Warners, McAuliffes, Beyers, etc.).
It's also evident that the local media are little more than shills for the status quo, i.e., more of the same "Progressive Socialism".
And it's also evident that local media are shills for more-of-the-same so-called "Smart Growth" aka Mixed-Use Gentrification that's destroying the County's social, economic, and environmental diversity.

The Owners and Publishers of Local Media outlets, whether Jeff Bezos who owns the Post or Scott Brodbeck who owns ArlNow, are primarily interested in more income from advertising, infomercials, and shilling for the status quo, as determined by so-called "Progressives". That means not offending anyone while disparaging everyone who doesn't go along with the Progressive Program. Have you watched network television lately, since #MeToo got going? Programming has gone from bad to worse. Bunch of Progressive Nannies who want the USA to be run like a Middle School with Adults treated like 6th Graders by Progressive Socialist Pols who their Progressive Media Shills can't say enough good things about.

ArlNow is pro-Urbanism, pro-gentrification, pro-Progressive hegemony, anti-Seniors, anti Middle Class, anti-multi modal safety. Anyone who is NOT for more of the same old same old from local government, for-profits, non-profits, and special interests should NOT visit the ArlNow blog, nor patronize ArlNow's advertisers and whomever ArlNow features in infomercials e.g., tear-down McMansion builders and real estate agents.
Local Media like ArlNow are so greedy for revenue that they can't afford to offend various VIPs and VIP organizations to the extent they and various supporters of the Progressive hegemony disparage anyone who doesn't 'go along with the program' as promulgated day in and day out in the Local Media.

The attendees at Reid's fund raiser were only a little less diverse than a typical CivFed and Committee of 100 monthly meeting.
I heard that the only 2 minorities who attended the May 18th County Board Meeting were the CB Chair and the CB Clerk
Send an e-mail to a couple of ArlNow's advertisers saying you won't be visiting ArlNow anymore 'cause it's a bunch of trash talk.
ArlNow is worse than trash talk. Many comments are hate speech by Yellow Dog Democrats against anyone who doesn't go along with the program.
Do ArlNow's advertisers know how many who once visited the site were turned off by the hatred expressed by the several commenters who are allowed to post any comments they please?

Civic Federation meeting is tonight. Check out the diversity of the delegates who will be attending and who supposedly represent the County's diverse resident population.
Arlington is increasingly upscale and the Urbanists have been gentrifying the workforce and middle class out of the County for 35+ years. So Reid's fundraiser is typical of politics in Arlington.

Off topic. I completely agree with comments seen elsewhere that Progressive Bicycle Cultster Libby Garvey should move to Bike City USA, Portland Oregon, and promote scofflaw bicycling there.
She's been elected to School Board and County Board continuously for almost 25 years. She spends a lot of time on her pet special interests, e.g., bicycles. She does not want to hear about bicycle safety and traffic ordinance enforcement for bicyclists.
She should retire after her current term on the County Board ends, next year. Enough of her spending tax dollars that should go for street paving, street lighting, maintaining street trees on bicycle this and bicycle that.

E-mailed Reid back to say there is no way I'll attend a Party Caucus and what was wrong with holding a Primary? Afraid fed-up Republicans, Greens, Libertarians, and Independents would show up and vote?
After 3 days of voting only 2,000 voted. More than 25,000 students attend APS. Check out ACDC's Web site. Also the victory photo of Reid surrounded by his non-diverse campaign team. What next for APS? Besides our taxes going way up to pay for more Taj Mahal schools? Besides more school name changes?
Reid and his opponent could and should have run as Independents in November. Obviously many thousands of voters were turned off from voting in a partisan selection process where they had to pledge to support whomever won.
Voters in the School Board Caucus had to pledge to support only Democratic candidates in November.
