Ballston Streetscape Needs Upgrades

Hi,

I'm a 20-something guy and live with my 20-something GF in a 2-bedroom, 2-bath apartment in Ballston. We pay $2260 / month for rent. We use the second bedroom for an office for her so she can work from home. I drive to work in Tysons because where I work in Tysons is not convenient to Metrorail. We own one subcompact hybrid car.

There's a big room with weight and exercise equipment in the building for tenants. Also, a bicycle storage area in the garage. We own two city bikes.

My beef with the County's government is if they want to turn the streets and sidewalks into outdoor recreation space they should fix the sidewalks and streets.

We're going to get married next year and we're looking to buy a single family home, but not in Arlington. Only one of us has student loans to repay but if we want to have kids we're still not going to be able to afford to live in Arlington.

In the meantime, is it too much to ask the County to fix the streets and sidewalks in this neighborhood? And keep them in good repair?

Ballston Metro Station is an embarrassment, but County Government should be completely embarrassed about Columbia Pike pavement near the Fairfax County Border.

Where do you find a 2-bedroom 2-bath apt in Ballston for only $2250 / month?

It's an older building overdue for renovation and upgrades.

Eventually Fairfax, Wilson, Quincy will be repaved. How about the vibrant used car lots? What about them?

Too much to ask this wealthy County to repave major sidewalks and keep them in good condition?

ACPD is too busy arresting Millennials and "persons with no fixed address" for being drunk in public to bother enforcing any traffic ordinances except those related to 4 wheel motor vehicles.

Yeah, I love the vibrant new apartment and condo buildings wher residents get to look down and see a used car lot.

Libby Garvey is to bicycles and electric scooters as Jay Fisette was to aquatics and live theater.

I'm 65 and have arthritis and will no longer shop in Westover Village except when it's raining or when Millennial Families and their bicycles are otherwise off the sidewalks.

Time for Libby Garvey to retire to Portland.

Christion Dorsey and Katie Cristol who live in the Pike Corridor should be embarrassed by the deterioration.
