Christian Dorsey Has Little Sympathy for Abingdon Neighborhood Flood Victims

Hello Yupette,

I am a close-by neighbor of Abingdon Elementary School and there is no way I will vote for Christian Dorsey for County Board or anything else. Like many other Abingdon parents Christian Dorsey lives miles away from Abingdon School and could care less about our neighborhood. All he apparently cares about is more pavement for parking and bigger SUV turn-arounds on the Abingdon campus.

Christian Dorsey was appointed the Abingdon Building Level Planning Commitee (BLPC) and attended 3 meetings. My neighbors had to demand to have one representative for our condo associations appointed to the BLPC. Mr. Dorsey supported the Abingdon PTA parents who drive their kids to school and then drive to work, usually running the Stop signs in the neighborhood.

Mr. Dorsey has little sympathy for those of us who live on the steep slopes between the school and Four Mile Run. We have suffered from flood damage from Abingdon School stormwater and were very concerned that the hurricane that missed us this past weekend would likely have caused flash flooding into our homes. APS has done little about the flash floods we already experience.

We have had to spend thousands of dollars hiring an Arlington land use, planning, and zoning attorney to get Arlington Public Schools and the County Board to listen to our concerns. We are now having to hire a civil engineer as well. All we are to Christian Dorsey are 'neighborhood nuisances' who want to slow down people who speed through our neighborhood running Stop signs and didn't want the money that was supposed to be spent on renewable energy on campus spent instead for big impervious parking lots and SUV turn arounds.

Please do not vote for Christian Dorsey on November 3rd.

I heard Dorsey and Cristol as several candidates' forums. They are both jive turkeys - all vague promises and feel good rhetoric.

Do we really need another Chris Zimmerman and another Mary Hynes on the County Board? Not !

Cristol and Dorsey say they are not pandering to neighborhood associations and special interests, while pandering to neighborhood associations and special interests. How much in future revenue have they already promised?

Hundreds of millions. Latest extravagant promises were made to the Arlington Education Association last week.

FYI, Dorsey and his fellow SUV soccer parents also oppose a crossing guard at S 29th and S Abingdon (a very dangerous intersection) because that would slow down parents too much.

APS should simply forbid the practice except for physically disabled students.

There is absolutely no benefit to the practice and many determinants some of which are mentioned here. We have a major fitness and obesity problem. We have school buses if the kids live a distance from the school. It would be beneficial to their health (and safer than being a motor vehicle passenger) to walk or bike to school like most of us did when we were kids.

Aw, quit your bitching. You bought at the bottom of a hill.

Cristol's and Dorsey's campaigns are more and worse of the Democratic Party's same old same old massive gentrification through Smart Growth.

At least Zimmerman and Favola never overtly went after single family neighborhoods.

I did not buy at the bottom of the hill - a$$hole.

School buses to and from Abingdon School are typically 1/3 full.

Dorsey speeds through Fairlington and runs stop signs just like the rest of his PTA parent buds.

The neighbors who have to put up with this outrageous behavior are making a YouTube video of scofflaw parents.

Neighbors are also signing a petition demanding APS provide a crossing guard at S 29th and S Abingdon.

What else can you expect from a career poverty pimp like Dorsey?

What will stop the Arlington Democratic Party's massive Re-Segregation through Gentrification - Elect Clement and McMenamin on November 3rd.

Hey Abingdon's SUV parents ARE responsible -- they only text AFTER dropping off their spoiled brats at the school.

Dorsey is completely corrupt poverty pimp who would spend all his time on the County Board making Smart Growth deals with developers. Just like Zimmy while he was in training to become a Smart Growth pimp.

County Government should be asking itself right now what would have happened if we had received the deluge South Carolina got.

Dorsey and Cristol have already promised VOICE, APAH, and the Developers that they will tear-down entire neighborhoods of older single family homes for apartments with 'affordable' units, starting with the Bluemont neighborhood between Glebe Road and George Mason Drive, and between I-66 and Carlin Springs Rd.

The Urban Village Idiots who 'planned' Abingdon in their County offices at 2100 Clarendon Blvd. and in the APS offices at the Trades Center wanted to remove trees and 'invasive' plants from the hillsides and replace the with native species, leaving the hillsides without enough of a root system to prevent massive erosion.

I read Christian Dorsey's comments to the Planning Commission about Abingdon. He should run for Abingdon PTA and become Chair of the SUV Parents' Caucus.

Dorsey is like Obama....same politrickster promises.

Where is the massive homeland security bureaucracy that's supposed to protect us from trains being derailed by rock slides and homes from being wiped out by mud slides?

Wild guess - putting paintball parks and skateboard parks under surveillance?

Democrats put Dorsey on the Abingdon BLPC to pad his resume'

Bluemont has been 'targeted' for repurposing into mixed use redevelopment with 'affordable housing' for Millennials earning between $52,000 and $91,000. Bars and restaurants on the ground floor.

Bluemont will be an extension of the BR corridor.

FYI - Scott McCaffrey, who drivels and drones on about everything and everything, lives about 100 yards from Abingdon School and has expressed zero interest in his own neighborhood...except when there's a festival event or sports of some sort occurring in the area.

Some of the school buses to and from Abingdon School have no kids aboard, arrival and dismissal.

Arlington Public Schools and Arlington Education Association cater to the whims and wants of SUV Soccer Parents who want to turn every Arlington school into a Country Day School.

Can someone in county government responsible for emergency preparedness please model a tropical storm arriving here just after several days of moderate rainfall?

Arlington has had one party government way too long.

Why does everyone, like the Abingdon School neighbors, have to call John Vihstadt at the County Board because County Government is so non-responsive?

Anonymous said...

Keep electing Democrats who have already promised hundreds of millions to pet non-profits and special interests. See what happens.

Anonymous said...

OK, so why does Dorsey say 'mistakes were made' with Smart growth 1.0 and then want to pursue Smart Growth 2.0 which is twice the intensive urbanization?

Anonymous said...

Arlington is a mess and the mess will get worse...much worse.

I listened to the Democratic constitutional officers who are running unopposed at the CivFed. They just don't care.

This is what we get for having one political party running everything (Vihstadt can't get a second for any motion he might make at County Board meetings).

Get the County off the Smart Growth (which is anything but smart) dime and elect Clement and McMenamin.
