Kelly, Arlington Republicans Moving to the Right

Hello Yupette,

More than 4,300 Arlington voters (and it appears that many who voted are Independents) turned out on a miserable day to participate in the Democratic Caucus.

But what about the Arlington Republican Party and it's candidate for County Board, Mark Kelly?

Mark is no longer employed by the Heritage Foundation. He now works on the Hill as Legislative Director and Deputy Chief of Staff for Congressman Tim Huelskamp. Congressman Huelskamp is a Tea Party Republican who is way to the right of the Republican leadership in the House. He represents the 1st Congressional District of Kansas.

So what kind of legislation is Congressman Huelskamp sponsoring? An amendment to the 2012 Defense Department Appropriations Act that would prohibit Navy Chaplains from performing same-sex marriages. A bill that would prohibit the NRLB from certifying labor elections. An omnibus agricultural bill that would remove most EPA restrictions on greenhouse gas emissions, pesticides, and particulates.

Oh, although Congressman Huelskamp doesn't want any restrictions on gun ownership, he hasn't sponsored a bill defunding ATF - yet.

So that's who Mark Kelly works for now. Thanks for your blog.

Bethany

Wow, someone who actually believes in a strong economy in places other than withing the Washington Beltway. I'm all for him.

Congressman Huelskamp believes in Corporate Welfare for Agribusiness.

Tim Huelskamp is a right wing nut case. Mark Kelly writes his legislation.

Hey, we have a choice. Libby hates guns. Mark loves guns. I don't know what Audrey Clement thinks about guns.

I wondered why the Log Cabin Republicans are contributing to the Dems and Audrey Clement.

Bet you a donut Mark Kelly is supporting Newt for President.

Go to thomas.gov and read the onmnibus bill Mark Kelly wrote...HR 3323.

Any Hatch Act problems with Kelly running as a republican?

Hatch Act doesn't cover Congress.

Some choice for County Board, a left winger or a right winger. I voted for Audrey Clement in November and will do so again.

Libby Garvey is a closet socialist. Audrey Clement is by far the best candidate.

Clint Eastwood wannabe vs. Joni Mitchell wannabe, some choice.

Only candidate who wants to pave my crumbling street now, not 10 years from now, is Audrey Clement.

More welfare for wealthy farmers. That's the legislation Mark Kelly is writing.

Why should I vote for someone who hates government, like Mark Kelly?

On a scale of 1 to 10 for concern about the environment, Mark Kelly gets a -5 and Libby Garvey gets a 0.

Both Garvey and Kelly are anti-learning. The school system's emphasis is on team sports, recreation, and entertainment. The person who gets the most respect by parents and students is the soccer coach.

Mark Kelly is the worst kind of Pro-Life, Anti-Child Sleaze. He wrote HR. 3323 to exempt farms from EPA and OSHA regulations and he wrote a section in the same bill rescinding Labor Department health and safety standards and regulations for children working on farms.

See the Federal Register Vol. 76 No. 171, September 2, 2011, for the child safety and protection regulations that Pro-Lifer Mark Kelly wants to rescind.

Pro-Life pediatrician Ron Paul co-sponsored HR 3323.

Mark Kelly and Congressman Huelskamp are all for protecting human cells, but human children will have to take their chances operating farm equipment.

It's a child...not a tractor driver.

Ask the farmers at the farmer's markets about farm machinery.

Anonymous said...

It's a child, not a pesticide application worker.

Anonymous said...

The Pro-Lifers are nut cases. They are making you put your 9-year old in a booster seat when you drive to soccer practice and making their 9-year old kid drive a tractor on their farms?

Anonymous said...

They are their fellow neo-cons in law enforcement made driving to and from work, soccer practice, and everywhere else, into a privilege. What they do on their family farms is their right.

Anonymous said...

Huelskamp's and Kelly's next right wing jihad? Against birth control.

Anonymous said...

Tim Huelskamp can do whatever he wants. Along with his fellow agribusiness executives. Read HR 3323.

Anonymous said...

If neo-cons like Tim Huelskamp and Mark Kelly really believe in personal rights, why are they opposed to birth control?

It appears that what they want is a large underclass of poor people to provide them with low-wage labor for activities ranging from child care to farm labor.

World according to Mark Kelly: If you are involved in an accident and your kid is bruised because he or she wasn't wearing a seat belt you are in big trouble. If a kid falls off a farm tractor he or she is driving and gets hurt, it's just an accident.

If Arlington voters knew about Mark Kelly's role in writing and pushing HR 3323 through Congress about 80% would be pissed. If Arlington voters also knew that HR 3323 would rescind the Labor Department's common-sense regulations protecting children from being involved in hazardous activities on farms another 10% would be pissed.

What do we have here, another Melissa Bondi who thinks the sheeple don't have access to public records?

Another election, another candidate, another at bat for Yupette.

Kelly winds up, here's the pitch. Yupette swings...it's a big hit...going...going...that ball is gone into the upper deck.

Kelly is looking shell shocked as Yupette rounds the bases. What a tremendous home run by Arlington Yupette.

Here comes Davey Johnson, and he's mad. He's motioning to Kelly, Kelly is gong to be relieved.

Just when we though things couldn't get more exciting after Yupette walloped a grand slam from a Bondi pitch last week.

This thread should read: "Pro-Lifer Mark Kelly Wrote Child Labor Exploitation Legislation".

The bill that Mark Kelly drafted, H.R. 3323, actually reinstitutes child labor by prohibitng the Secretary of Labor from regulating the employment of minors on farms. Evidently Kelly believes not only in a child's right to life at the moment of conception, but his/her right to be exploited at a tender age. This is outrageous even by Tea Party standards.

Another commenter asked my opinion on guns. I advocate the right to own a gun, which is guaranteed by the Second Amendment, subject to reasonable regulation by federal, state and local government.

Audrey, I'm voting for you. Libby Garvey also uses children - as pawns in her political schemes.

Mark Kelly thinks Arlington is Dodge City and he is one of Wyatt Earp's Deputies.

I took sheer joy in trashing Bondi all over the place. Internet, on the phone, newspapers (f u Scott) and in the line at the caucus.

Then there's the Zimmerman Gang. They were all at the County Board meeting Tuesday night.

BlueLoom said...

The danger is that Clement and Garvey will split the moderate/liberal vote and we'll end up with ultra-conservative Kelly on the board. Though I don't love the Zimmy Groupies, at least they can out-vote Kelly if he wins.

We hear this excuse every election where there is a 3rd party candidate running. Mark Kelly is a right wing fringe candidate. Libby Garvey is another 'do-nothing except play politics with our children as pawns' Democrat who will cater to the wants of the Machine, even though she says she's 'independent'.

I've read HR 3323. My question is if this bill became law would it allow de facto reckless endangerment of children on farms?

Where is School Board member Libby on this? We know where Audrey Clement stands.

If the so-called 'journalists' did their jobs the public would not have to rely on blogs like this one for news. If the 'journalists' had done their jobs Audrey Clement would have been elected last November.

There is no way anyone should either vote for a right wing crazy (and that's what Mark Kelly is) or vote to allow Libby Garvey to be the fifth 5-0 County Board vote for the status quo. I'm voting for Audrey Clement. I and my family deserve better, much better, than what the major parties are prioviding in the way of 'governance'.

Dem for Clement said...

Zimmy Groupies...exactly what we don't need. Don't you realize that Zimmerman is an out-and-out Segregationist? He is also an arrogant Elitist as are the people he appoints to the various committees, commissions, boards, etc.

The danger is the County fiscally implodes after Garvey votes along with Zimmerman.

I agree with Audrey Clement, time for an independent Inspector General to audit the County's books and evaluate all the luxury projects the four of them have planned. Tejada reportedly wants a regulation indoor soccer field (that's 45,000 sq feet, folks) at Long Bridge Park. When does it end? When the bubble bursts as everyone who's taken Economics 101 knows is going to happen..

Anonymous said...

No 'reportedly' about it. Tejada stated there will be an indoor soccer field at Long Bridge Park last County Board meeting.

Anonymous said...

Talk about arrogant. People in Zimmy's inner circle who he likes the most are former Hill Staffers who are just incredible.
