Zimmerman's Local Opinions Comments in Post Were Deceptive

Hello, Yupette,

I have to completely disagree with Chris Zimmerman's self-serving comments on the Post's Local Opinions page in yesterdays's Metro Section. Chris Zimmerman is largely responsible for the need for I-66 widening and HOT Lanes on I-95.

Same Chris Zimmerman who approved massive so-called "Smart Growth" redevelopment near I-66 and I-395. At least 30,000 new parking spaces have been constructed in Arlington since 2000, arterials are jammed and tens of thousands of workers have been gentrified out of Arlington since Chris Zimmerman was elected to the County Board. Now we are hearing the same self-serving rhetoric that we heard about WMATA - everyone except Chis Zimmerman was responsible for WMATA's problems. No way do I buy that.

Chris Zimmerman and the County Board have long been criticized for approving in-fill commercial and residential buildings with 300 parking spaces, next to Metro stations and Metrobus routes.

Zimmerman and the County Board installed mega-development along the Ballston-Rosslyn corridor and let the Green Party sue to block I-66 widening.

How many parking spaces crammed into EFC?

No EFC Mega Development said...

Maybe 500.

What about Zimmerman's form based charade on the Pike? Every big building will have a 300 vehicle parking garage.

Title should have been: "Moving more vehicles, not just more people".

Transportation planning for the Pike is an oxymoron. Besides every new form-based building having a 300-vehicle parking garage Zimmerman will spend $138 million for a dozen streetcars and will create thousands of new parking spaces for the in-fill condos that will replace the Barcroft Apartments and other older rental housing on the Pike.

There is no accurate count of all the parking spaces that have been created in Arlington since 2000 because "by right" infill projects don't need the County's approval.

Yes, if 3 or 4 McMansions are constructed on a 3/4 acre lot that typically adds 10 vehicles.

So how much longer can they go on increasing the number of vehicles in a 26 sq mile county?

Until Guru of Gridlock Zimmerman has the streets gridlocked.

Until Master of Transportation Disaster Zimmerman does to surface transportation in Arlington what he did to Metrorail.

Until Arlington looks like downtown Annapolis the week of the annual Boat Show.

My computer has been REALLY slow lately. Both the internet and the desktop are annoyingly slow. It's a PC and it's not new, but I'm not sure how old it is. We've had it for 3 years and before that, my aunt had for at least 4 years. I defragment it and do the disk cleanup regularly. And it has a lot of free memory left (it's like 75% of the computer's total memory is free). I have an up-to-date anti-virus program on it (BitDefender), and it runs scans on it, and has NEVER found a virus. All of the fire-walls are up and running. What could be wrong with my computer?? Please help!! *Thanks!* unlock iphone 4
