Fisette's Neighbors Object to Founders Square Deal with County Board Pet Developer

Hello Yupette,

I live in Ashton Heights and we are already concerned about the amount of traffic to be generated by Founders Square redevelopment. Now the County Board wants to grant even more bonus density to its pet developer in return for $6.5 million in improvements to Mosaic Park. This is another transfer of development rights charade whereby the County Board rewards a pet developer with big bonus density derived from keeping public parkland public parkland with "improvements" (lighted playing fields). Of course the primary users of the improved Mosaic Park will be the residents of the Founders Square redevelopment. Even Jay Fisette's friends and neighbors in the Ashton Hts. Civic Association are concerned about our historic neighborhood being overwhelmed by traffic. This will be agenda item #25 on Saturdays' County Board meeting agenda.

If Fisette doesn't csre about his own neighborhood being overwhelmed by traffic what makes you think he will do anything more than rubber stamp anything the out-of-state REITs propose for East Falls Church?

Guess who will be there telling her Ashton Hts. neighbors that "the County Board knows what's best for you"? The County Board's "Nana Montana" Carrie Johnson.

County Board is granting a pet developer at least $50 million worth of bonus density for spending $6.5 million to improve a 1.5 acre park, for the benefit of the residents of the developer's mega-infill project.

Jay Fi$$$ette doesn't give a s---. He and his domestic partner are mega millionaires because of Jay being on the County Board for 15 years. They can take off and spend $10,000 a weekend at any resort they choose.

What do you mean, $10,000 a weekend? Try $20,000.

"Nanny Nancy" Hunt and "Nana Montana" Johnson have been the County Board's Smithie Elitist North Arlington / South Arlington Gentrification tag team on the Planning Commission for going on 10 years.

Playing fields for use by "industrial leagues" for Yuppies that Founders Square will give rise to. And my kids, who love climbing the ropes at Mosaic now, will be frozen out. Yupette, you know, Jay is a real family man -- he gets it.

That's what has happened in Fairlington, thanks to Nanny Nancy Hunt and the County Board's other "Community Leaders" aka ward heelers. Organized sports activities and organized special interests have taken over. As in Fairlington, your kids will be forced to play in Ashton Heights's streets, or cross over Route 50 to TJ (also becoming "by reservation only") because your public infrastructure will be posted with "Reserved for..." signs.

Jay Fisette is on record at County Board meetings commenting about his neighbors' objections to his and the County Board's urbanization imposed on Ashton Heights: "They'll get over it".

Seen the latest plans for EFC from Nancy Hunt's Planning Commission Long Rang Planning Committee? A big plaza surrounded by in-fill. Everybody who lives in the new in-fill will use Tuckahoe Park and the Marymount-O'Connell Sports Complex. By reservation only.

Dump Hynes and Tejada in November. Hynes only cares about establishing new party zones and Tejada only cares about building new soccer fields.

I can see it now: "Posted - No picnicking, rope climbing, playing catch with your kid, reading, or any other unorganized activity allowed. Use by reservation only. By order of PRCR".

Assuming two Republicans were elected in November what would THEY do? Sell the parks outright to the developers.

This is what the GLBT community deserves for allowing hedo guppy jerks like Jay Fisette to define us.

Reportedly "Nanny Nancy" will follow her buddy "Nana Montana" into retirement within the next couple of years, leaving us and our kids stuck with the consequences of their bad planning.

I heard from a Planning Commission member that Nancy Hunt will retire to the Charlottesville area within two years.

So this is the person the County Board picked to lead the Planning Commission's Long Term Planning Committee? Someone who's moving out of the area soon?

How much longer is Jay Fisette going to stick around Arlington? He's 55 and his domestic partner is worth about $50 million, earned mostly through contacts Jay's made while on the County Board.
