2011 Statements of Economic Interest are Available

Hi Yupette,

Annual Statements of Economic Interest, Disclosure of Real Estate Holdings, and Financial Disclosure Statements for 2011 are now available for Virginia's elected and appointed officials. For information about disclosure statements that were required to be filed by Arlington's elected and appointed officials (like planning commission members) by January 15th, call the County Manager's Office (703-228-3110). You have to file a freedom of information act request to see them.

Does the $2500 'stocking stuffer' Trader Joes gift card I received for Christmas count?

You must must mean the annual state, county, and locality fiction essay assignment.

Do give-aways to the REITs, bargain basement sales of state liquor stores to Republican campaign contributors, etc. count?

Used to be when Toni Copeland was County Board Clerk you could just set up an appointment and read them in the County Board offices.

$100 gift cards are cool too. People in code enforcement love them.

Well, I for one, am happy they've gone to gift cards with a lot of zeros in the amount. I was tired of having the cash wrapped in a copy of the Post and tossed on my front porch. It was offensive to my political beliefs because I'm a Republican and don't like the Post.

Palin in 2012, contact Republican State HQ so you can sign up for a gift liquor store next Christmas from Governor Bob.

Agreed. So much easier to have a $1,000 gift card delivered to our homes inside a Christmas card, birthday card, etc.

Don't forget that you will receive Bonus Bucks added to your gift cards if you're an ACDC Committee Member or Precinct Chair as well as being on a County Government Advisory Committee.

I was surprised at how soon my $1,000 gift card arrived in the mail after I voted against my civic association's leadership and for the redevelopment of Crystal City. Chris told me later that my vote really made a difference when Crystal City came before the County Board.

Hey, I called the County Manager's Office and the person told me it would take "quite awhile" for the County Attorney to approve any request to view these supposedly public records.

Don't expect anything from the local media. If McCaffrey made a fuss first thing that would happen is that he'd be kicked off the Chamber's Executive Committee.

I heard the dog ate a couple of planning commission members' homework so the financial interest fiction assignments won't be available for review by the Sheeple until Friday, at the earliest.
