Hi Yupette,
I live not far from Alexandria and you should be aware that Alexandria City Council requested the City Manager's staff to prepare a detailed report of the city's spending for outside services like contractors and consultants. Outside spending comprised about 10% of the City's spending last fiscal year. The information is on-line on the City's Web site and some citizens want the same information from the Alexandria school system.

Ask Barbara Donnellan. She may form a committee to examine the option of facilitating such a report by the Arlington County Manager's office.
Thre isn't one-party government in Alexandria.
There isn't party government in Alexandria.
Ask Barbara Donnellan. 703-228-3120.
Asking Barbara Donnellan is like asking a fox how many chickens she's been grabbing from the local farms and where she's hiding them.
Anyone know how much Jay Fisette's Christmas party on Dec. 4th at the Artisphere cost the sheeple?
Ask the County Board next month.
Same County Board and School Board that spend extravagantly on entertainment and recreation but renovating a planetarium depends on citizens holding bake sales. I would not expect any release of information from them about which of their pet people are receiving favorable treatment in the form of contracts and consulting fees.
Where is the Civic Federation? Where is ACTA? One activist showed up last Tuesday to ask why the County Board put $400 million in spending for it's 6-year transportation improvement plan on the consent agenda.
Arlington County contracts and expenditures are posted the same place as Board Member and Barbara Donnellan's financial disclosure forms, which is nowhere.
McCaffrey can't be bothered do dig; he's too beholden to powerful interests to advocate for publication.
Yupette, did you see the biggest contributer to Zimmerman's campaign fund this cycle was the "Zimmerman Victory Fund?" Zimmerman uses the dummy intermediary scam to hide the identity of his donors -- so much for transparency under his rule as Chairman.
How about Fisette? You won't anywhere find a list of companies who have to agree to use the consulting services provided by Fisette's domestic partner's company before they can do business with Arlington County.
Zimmerman also lies about his address on his donation forms.
Read the Post's Metro Section today? Coleman McCarthy:
"Metro needs fresh oversight, especially as the board prepares to pick a new, permanent general manager in early 2011. It needs directors eager to embrace new approaches necessary to fix problems that have been building for years, especially to improve safety and maintenance.
Graham and Zimmerman are not the right fit for those tasks. They were two of the board's most engaged and influential members during the years when Metro failed to build a safety culture and allowed maintenance to erode."
So why do we allow Zimmerman to construct two light rail systems that will cost $300 million combined?
