Hi Yupette,
I own a mountain bike but I refuse to ride it anywhere but on a few bicycle trails and only then weekdays during the day. Weekends when the weather is nice the trails are crowded and there are too many bicyclists racing.
Arlington's streets are a dangerous disgrace. They are covered with potholes and broken pavement. The street bike lanes are covered with sand and trash.
Please don't ride your bicycle on Arlington's streets. They are too dangerous.

Yeah, well bicycles are part of Boss Zinmmerman's Master Transportation Plan. Along with his equally-dangerous Pike Trolley.
Same wonderful County Board that allowed brick sidewalk pavement to be installed until a couple years ago.
There is no bicycle safety program. People on racing bikes ride at high speed on Arlington's bike trails. I also have a mountain bike, which is stored in my garage.
Jay Fisette DOES NOT bicycle everywhere. He drives everywhere
Yupette I now see a few people on bicycles wearing bright colored shirts. Not many.
Bicycles are a transportation gimmick. Arlington is based on gimmicaks and PR, have you noticed?
Tell Zimmerman and Fisette about it at the next Arlington Yuppie Board meeting, on April 24th.
Something the local media should be taking the County to task over. Which only shows the local media are shills for local government and local business.
Arlington is all about the Creative Class aka Yuppies and its wants - dog parks, live theater, sports, recreation. Not about needs.
How about a thread about the abysmal state of fire and EMS response to medical emergencies? Like someone on a mountain bike hitting a pothole and getting thrown off the bike?
If you hit a pothole and get thrown off your mountain bike in South Arlington chances are that the EMS vehicle that responds will come from Fairfax County or Alexandria.
Also unsafe for motorcycles.
No way I am going to ride my motorcycle on Arlington's streets and roads until the potholes get filled. We are living in a 3rd world country except when it comes to soccer fields and live theater.
Hey, Jam, Third Word countries are installing solar powered LED streetlights.
