Arlington County Board - At Large Representation, or Legislative Districts?

Here's the thread. Yea or Nay? A.Y.

I think they would do in their neighborhoods what they do now across the County and it cost even more than their present vote-buying.

I'm all for districts. It gives someone besides the Yuppiecrats a chance to win seats on the County Board. It's much easier to run a 12 or 13-precinct campaign than it is to run a 51-precinct campaign. In a district race, having a good volunteer network might be enough to offset the Yuppiecrats' money advantage.

Yupette, thanks for the thread!

I think the Yuppiecrats would just put 4X as much money and volunteers into each district, assuming that in most years only one CB member runs for re-election. Biggest problem is that the media totally ignore anyone who is not a major party candidate, no matter how corrupt and inefficient the major parties are.

That's because the media are corrupt themselves, as demonstrated by threads in this blog.

If there were districts third party and independent candidates could cover the polls and leave literature at all residences.

Alexandria has wards and occasionally a Republicrat is elected.
