Hi Yupette,
I was appalled to hear Jay Fisette claim during yesterday's yesterday's Westover debate that he hasn't accepted campaign contributions from PACs and business interests. In fact, Jay accepted $2,000 from the Virginia Realtor's PAC and almost $22,000 from various business interests, many that have appeared before the County Board.

Well, I would like to know how much campaigning and fund raising Jay did at the Newseum party that was paid for by Arlington taxpayers. Was this a party to celebrate the acquisition of the Newseum for a Cultural Center or, as I have repeatedly heard, a big campaign event for Jay?
Cultural Affairs won't say how much the party cost. I asked.
Fisette only cares about Gay Rights issues. That's what he'll spend the next 4 years doing if he's re-elected.
More gay and lesbian homeowners than you think who are not into the local live entertainment scene are voting for John Reeder. Jay Fisette does not represent all gay men and lesbians in Arlington.
Agreed, Jay no longer cares about Arlington's middle class, if he ever did.
Did you see who Fisette's individual contributors are? In case you wondered how Arlington's FY 10 budget got stripped to build the Cultural Center.
Now they are out-and-out lying. What next?
Jay only cares about Jay and his friends and their shared interests.
Scott McCaffrey passed up the opportunity to cover this important debate and wrote a lengthy feature about squirrels instead. What a turkey.
McCaffrey not only wrote a feature about squirrels he wrote a dissertation about squirrels. While important candidate debates were being held all over Arlington.
Can we please have a real weekly newspaper in Arlington?
I am a closeted lesbian and not into the local GLBT scene, politics, entertainment, anything. Jay Fisette does not represent me or my values. If Jay were a real progressive he would not be in D.C. but campaigning with me against those twin neo-con crazies, McDonnell and Cuccinelli.
McCaffrey dislikes newspapers. He only likes his own blog's drivel.
It's obvious to me who is running and ruining Arlington County: the Chamber of Commerce.
Yupette,
The unions are so fed up enough with Fisette and the rest of the County Board that they are starting their petition drive on Election Day. They plan to change the county form of government from an at-large to a district system. It's in the October 27th Sun Gazette. Might be worth a thread.
VA Green,
Most of the union people who are sick of Fisette and the County Board can't vote in Arlington, especially the police and fire department employees.
If Fisette is re-elected it will get worse. Much worse. We will be stuck with a very expensive aquatic center, at least two more live theater buildings, a big taxpayer-funded festival every weekend between May and October, and a big bill for redevelopment of Lee Highway.
Sun Gazette? About 1/2 of the problems with Arlington County are because of the Sun Gazette.
The other so-called journalist employed by the Sun Gazette decided to forget about covering the candidates and write about a deceased Supreme Court Justice.
How many of these people gathering petition signatures are Arlington residents?
