Arlington County Board-Chamber of Commerce Opposes Renewable Energy

Arlington County actually LOST commercial renewable solar energy over the past four years. The demonstration solar farm at the Pentagon power plant has been dismantled. Why do Jay Fisette and the County Board go along with the anti-environment, anti-renewable energy Chamber of Commerce and rely on "green gimmicks" and charades like bicycle racks in the basements of 400-vehicle parking garages to make buildings "energy efficient"?

Ask Arlington Chamber of Commerce Vice-Chairman for Governmental Affairs and Economic Development, Scott McCaffrey. BTW, he's also the Editor of the Arlington Sun Gazette, and just endorsed both Bob McDonnell and Jay Fisette.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is anti-environment and the County Board goes along with the Chamber.

Three strikes against Fisette:

Arlington County burns hundreds of thousands of tons of trash and garbage every year, which Fisette never mentions.

Arlington has installed no renewable energy on public buildings.

Fisette and the County Board say almost nothing about air pollution which is bad and getting worse.

County Board approved the construction of more than 4,000 new parking spaces last year, most in parking garages near Metro stations. How "smart" is that?

I'm very concerned about so many schools being near I-66, which generates a huge amount of air pollution. The County Board doesn't care. Why isn't there a lot more public transportation out to Gainesville? I thought VDOT was the Virginia Department of Transportation, not the Department of Highways.

Look at the Arlington Chamber's Board of Directors. Loaded with developers and attorneys who represent developers who oppose installing renewable energy.

Yupette, major U.S. companies are leaving the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in droves over the Chamber's stonewalling the federal government's efforts to combat global warming.

County Board-Chamber of Commerce just spent more taxpayer $$$ giving out awards to local organizations that install "green gimmicks" in energy inefficient buildings.
