Residents from several Arlington communities across Arlington County attended Saturday's County Board meeting to express their concerns about the accelerating pace of mega-development in Arlington County during the Public Comment period. The response of both the County Board and mainstream media was more indifference to citizens' concerns about traffic, air quality, and quality-of-life deterioration.

I live in Leeway-Overlea and the County Board is not listening to our concerns about the mega-development planned for around the East Falls Church Metro station. We've been excluded from any decision-making.
I and many others in my community are voting for John Reeder on November 3rd.
L-O, the County Board wants to do a total Clarendon on East Falls Church neighborhoods near the Metro station.
P.S., this is off-topic, but, McCaffrey and Antonelli were discussing their latest "Jane Barcroft" joint venture outside the Arlington County Board room yesterday.
Two residents of neighborhoods near Crystal City also raised issues about mega-traffic in a future mega-Crystal City, which the County Board wants to turn into another Tysons.
Vote for John Reeder if you want change. The present County Board is incapable of change.
The County Board was more interested in hearing John Antonelli's poetic drivel than the concerns from Leeway Overlea residents about mega-development. Yes, it's time for a change on the County Board, starting on November 3rd.
Yupette, Guru of Gridlock Zimmerman (who does not live anywhere near the East Falls Church Metro Station, nor any Metro station) is micro-managing the EFC Metro Station "revitalization." Zimmerman is to planning, architecture, development, and transportation as Antonelli is to poetry.
Yeah, Zimmerman appointed his hand-picked pro-Clarendonization ward-heeler flunkies to be on the committees that decide how much bonus density the EFC Metro Station redevelopers will receive for destroying EFC as a viable community of single family homes. The residents are largely shut our of the redevelopment process. But what else is new in Arlington County?
Naw, Chris Zimmerman isn't that stupid. He recently earned an advanced certificate in Planning Management from the Walsh-Colucci Insttitute for Redevelopment Planning.
What Antonelli amd McCaffrey were actually discussing outside the County Board Room was - what produces the most intestinal gas: goat cheese and alfalfa sprouts or roast pork and collard greens?
How bad is traffic going to be around Crystal City?
Pretty bad, according to residents.
Hi Yupette, could we have a guest thread about positive things we'd like to see happen in Arlington by 2020?
There are lots of positive things Arlingtonians would like to see happen, in previous threads.
Where is the concern by the civic federation and the media about the serious future traffic problem we appear to be facing?
Civic Federation? You mean the 20 or so mostly elderly residents who show up at every Civfed meeting to mostly support the status quo? As for the media, have you seen what they earn from ad revenue for automotive and real estate ads?
Sun Gazette Editor Scott McCaffrey is Vice-Chairman of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce for Governmental Affairs and Economic Development.
U.S. Chamber of Commerce is a totally reactionary organization. It opposes doing anything whatsoever about global warming.
Today Sun Gazette Editor and Arlington Chamber of Commerce Vice-Chair for Government Affairs and Economic Development Scott McCaffrey again proved he's biased and has serious conflicts of interest. He service on the Arlington Chamber of Commerce Board makes it impossible for him to endorse progressive candidates with vision and common sense solutions. I cannot take anything Mr. McCaffrey says or prints seriously for these reasons.
Seen who's on the Arlington Chamber's Board of Directors. Seen anything a little strange?
Yeah, looks like a County Club Board of Directors...not a Board representing diverse small, medium. and large businesses.
Guest thread? Sun Gazette and Chamber of Commerce have the same agenda.
