Time for a Long Time-Out from ArlNow

Hello,

Time for a long time-out from visiting the ArlNow news blog? About time.

ArlNow's Owner and Publisher, Scott Brodbeck, is a long-time New Urbanist Democrat who's shared the goal, since he started ArlNow 11 years ago, of complete mixed-use infill gentrification / millennialization of the County with Arlington's Urbanist Democrats.

Scott no longer lives in historic Fairlington but quietly purchased a 1950's single family home in Country Club Hills a couple years ago, nowhere near the "vibrant" mixed use millennialization he and his fellow Urbanist media publishers promote and profit from, via features, ads, infomercials, weekly columns, and comments that appear under most features, mostly written by Urbanist Democrats who typically trash anyone who doesn't go along with one-party govenment dedicated to infill gentrification redevelopment.

It would be one thing if ArlNow were just another propaganda channel for revitalization through gentrification. But Scott (who has complete control over what is published on ArlNow) also uses his favored commenters as surrogates. Comments appearing on ArlNow are increasingly false and malicious without regard to truth and are directed against anyone who doesn't go along with the Urbanist-Democrat agenda.

Consequently it's time for anyone who's for increased democracy in Arlington to give ArlNow a long time-out. Alternative? Arlington Patch provides almost the same news content as ArlNow but without the overt biases and comments that verge on hate speech. Terri from 22205

ArlNow had no problem boosting the St Paddy's Day pub crawl in mid-March.

Yes. Arlington Patch has about the same news content as ArlNow.

It gets worse. Scott's surrogate commenters contributed to keeping ArlNow afloat when ad revenue from social crowding venues dried up.

Owners / Publishers of the Sun Gazette and Inside Nova also live nowhere near the "smart growth" they promote.

I posted a few comments about too much growth and was attacked by Scot's surrogates, and when I replied they were being abusive Scott had me permanently banned from posting comments.

Do a White Pages lookup (the free lookup) on the Urbanism boosters and you'll see that few of them live in vibrant in-fill gentrified neighborhoods, and it they do they have a second home far away from "smart growth".

It gets worse, and worse, and worse:

Yuppies - Dude with the biggest McMansion and SUV wins

Millennials - Dude who can drink the most on weekends wins

Gen Z - Dude who can drive from DC to Richmond fastest wins

Do they (Urbanists) actually believe people won't want to continue to work from home and employers would want to downsize office space when their employees telework in significant numbers?

Brodbeck apparently continues to believe massive infill redevelopment gentrification is Arlington's "future".

I and my husband have a 2-year old at home and I and he DO NOT want to spend $2400 / month for childcare, never mind the INSANE commuting to and from work, when we can be at home and productive at work with our daughter.

Libby Garvey SUCKS...her bicyclist buds, who she can't do enough for, constantly inflicting their untreated PTSD behavior on us in our streets and sidewalks,

If Arlington Patch hires another reporter who covers Arlington, I won't visit ArlNow again.

I agree that a significant number of male bicyclists who ride recklessly appear to be suffering from PTSD based their behavior.

I stopped visiting ArlNow. The comments have become mostly abusive. Patch is actually better because you see what's happening in nearby jurisdictions.

If you post negative comments about Scott's favorite interests and people (including surrogate commenters) Scott will permanently ban you from posting comments.

Scott Brodbeck, Scott McCaffrey, and several Post reporters hate Audrey Clement because they massively profit from infill gentrification redevelopmenbt and want smart growth to continue.

How about a total time-out from ArlNow until July 1st?

Anyone else see what the Gen Zs are doing? Check out the news blogs' weekly crime reports.

How about a total time-out from ArlNow forever?

Given the tenure of the abusive commenters on ArlNow and what they are allowed to post I have to believe Scott Brodbeck is coordinating a continuous campaign to discredit non-Urbanists and non-Democrats.

Inside Nova Arlington is as bad in different ways. Scott McCaffrey is negative about anyone who isn't a chamber of commerce booster progressive, and he publishes Arlington Democratic Party press releases as news, sometimes daily, while ignoring other political parties and candidates.

My daughter decided to attend a state university so we will have enough disposable income to "get out of Dodge" and plan on doing so before Arlington becomes a complete mess...in the not too distant future. Looks like both of us will be able to telework, except for a weekly or bi-weekly meeting.

Nothing will change with one political party maintaining complete control.

I vote for Scott Brodbeck as Millennial Moron of the Year - 2020.

Earth to Clueless: Gen Z's are rioting, as their Grandparents did 50-something years ago. It's an American Tradition passed from Generation to Generation.

$cott Brodbeck should retire from the Urbani$t-Democrat "Journali$m" he engages in, and profits from, and move from Country Club Hill$ to an Up$cale enclave even more isolated from New Urbani$m. Like starting a "Garden and Gun" for Virginia's Lexu$ Liberal$ aka Don Beyer Volvo Progre$$ive$.

Dump ArlNow. Read Arlington Patch instead.

Garden & Gun? LOL. No gardens. No guns. Lots of ads for expensive real estate where New Urbanists can retire nowhere near "Smart Growth".

What Gen Zs are doing: Raising hell just like their Baby Boomer Grandparents did in 1970.

Brodbeck desperately wants Arlington County Government to resume Plan A aka "Party's Over Here in Arlington". His financial future depends on it.

Brodbeck also apparently wants major restrictions placed on the operation of motor vehicles but few or no restrictions placed on the operation of bicycles, skateboards, scooters.

Last 'weekend discussion' on ArlNow this past weekend was among Scott's surrogates, all of whom Scott apparently knows personally. 'Journalism' inside the DC beltway is an oxymoron.

ArlNow is going to telework after a decade of being a booster for infill-for-the-sale-of-infill aka mixed-use Clarendonization of Arlington.

Anonymous said...

At least half of ArlNow's commenters are Scott Brodbeck's surrogates. For the past decade Scott's been boosting infill Clarendonization but he lives in a 50's single family home in Country Club Hills and now ArlNow is going to telework for its staff. Totally typical of the Urbanists.

I limit my visits to ArlNow to twice a day and I don't click on any of the infomercials.

Trump was, is, and always will be deja vu Richard Nixon.

ArlNow is a Facilitator for the Elitists who want to drive anyone who earns less than $200,000 / year out of the County.
