Local Media: Fake News, Phony Journalists

Hi Yupette,

Thanks for this news blog.

Wanted to let you know I no longer believe anything the D.C.-area Media publish. It's all Fake News, disseminated by phony 'Journalists'.

They're all addicted to New Urbanism - Growth for the Sake of Growth, like the other VIPs who get to micro-manage our lives Inside the Beltway. Consequences? What are Consequences?
They deluge us with propaganda press releases from local governments, non-profits, and for-profits, many printed/published as 'infomercials', more fake news.

They're only concerned about ad revenue, obtained from not offending anyone. Investigative Journalism? What's that?

Washington Post is the worst. Almost all of their 'Staff Writers' have been through J-School and should know better.

You forgot the 'scare the Mommies stories' day in and day out.

Seen any change in the Post's Metro Section after Amazon bought the paper?

Post constantly depicts Donald Trump as the Bad Guy. USA is better off today, nationally and internationally, than we were 4 years ago.

Where are the 'Nanny Newsies' when it comes to paying their beloved Migrants a $15 Minimum Wage and building Workforce Housing for them inside-the-DC-beltway?

Anonymous said...

Post was, is, and always will be, managed and staffed by a bunch of sleazy Elitists.

Right. No more hand-wringing in the Oval Office, like between 2010 and 2017, over 'what are we going to do about Iran'?

And North Korea...

Where would we be today if Bill and Hill were in the W.H.?

Thanks for this blog for Independents. No ads, no infomercials, no recycled press releases from local governments, non-profits, for-profits.

Another reason U.S. Media suck said...

Migrants? Reality Check -- U.S. admits more than 1 million immigrants as permanent legal residents every year. Has been occurring every year for decades.

Worst Fake News by the News Media? A day in day out litany of everything that's wrong with the USA...and everyone but the News Media's to blame.

I gets worse...At least 50 small restaurants and retail stores in Arlington close every year, putting their low wage employees out of work. Progressive Elite can't do enough for big corporations and pet non-profits.

That's because the Local Media facilitate the agenda of Range Rover Progressives --- Revitalization Through Gentrification

How about some Investigative Journalism by the Local Media to determine why the Republican, Green, and Libertarian Parties no longer run candidates for County Board and School Board?

Obviously Jeff Bezos bought the Post to give himself and Amazon immunity from being trashed for the deplorable minimum-security prison working conditions Amazon's Fufillment Center employees endure.

Non-Post local media only want to print press releases as "news", run infomercials, and run "stories" based on real-time news feeds from police, fire, and EMS, e.g., cops dispatched to a convenience store to apprehend a homeless man stealing food. Also print "stories" about their favorite people and organizations. Anything and anyone else are just "nuisances" that can be ignored.

What about the recent nationwide Amber Alert put out by the Media regarding the "Missing" Chinese child supposedly "abducted" from National Airport? Never an explanation about what actually occurred.

Earth to Scott McCaffrey. I post comments to this blog fairly often. It's been obvious for years that the main purpose of your publications is to print anti-environment pro-urbanization news, editorials, and infomercials boosting any and all urbanization growth in this tiny County without any thought as to consequences.

Anonymous said...

Time for McCaffrey to retire as unpaid lead PR person for the Status Quo as promoted by Arlington County Government and work as the lead PR person for either the Arlington Chamber of Commerce or Northern Virginia Association of Realtors.

Mike aka Anonymous said...

Speaking of the Environment, notice the Local Media can't and won't editorialize about the massive loss of the County's mature tree canopy. That might offend an infomercial sponsor or advertiser who's bulldozing the County's mature tree canopy for development.

What would the Media do if Donald Trump declares "Mission Accomplished" after the November elections, retires in January, and Mike Pence is President until 2021?

Anonymous said...

I'm also a fed-up Independent who's voting for John Vihstadt and Audrey Clement, and no other candidate on the ballot. Everyone else is a Limousine Liberal who wants to be elected to inflict his/her/their so-called "progressive values" on the rest of us.

Anonymous said...

Inflicting 'values' on everyone? How about ArlNow Owner and Publisher, Scott Brodback inflicting his urban hipster 'values' on the entire County? Oh, speaking of 'anonymous' he and Scott McCaffrey lead completely anonymous lives in Historic Fairlington, Brodbeck on S. Abingdon Street and McCaffrey on S 28th Rd.

They promote Libby Garvey's "free range" Bicycle Scofflaw agenda but publish zero about bicycle safety, bicycle scofflaws, nothing. Like the County's elected Democratic politicians the Media Elite inflict their social, economic, and political ideologies on us for years, if not decades, and then disappear never to be seen or heard from again.

Anonymous said...

Agree. What would they do if Donald Trump resigns and Mike Pence becomes President?

Whatever happened to Nanny Newsie Steve Thurston? Whatever happened to the Nannie Newsies at Patch? Whatever happened to Postie Patricia Sullivan?

Tim aka Anonymous said...

What has Sun Gazette / Inside Nova Owner and Publisher Richard L. Connor been up to lately? All the lawsuits settled that were based on his previous antics?

Ted aka Anonymous said...

Worst local media political 'journalism'?

Post - ignores non-Democrat candidates until a week before the elections

ArlNow - continuously trashes non-Democrat candidates via comments from yellow dog Dems

Sun Gazette - Ignores non-Democrat candidates until a week before the elections while publishing hundreds of press releases (many written by APS and County employees) promoting Democrat candidates.

Audrey Clement is running an issues-based campaign for School Board and will again be ignored, when she isn't disparaged, by the local Media.

Worst is ArlNow...very little that's not paid content, including paid announcements, paid press releases, sponsored content, and ads.

Only 'exceptions' are press releases written by government, non-profits, and for-profits and published as 'news', interviews with Scott Brodbeck's pet people, and real-time feeds by ACPD and ACFD.

Anonymous said...

Agree ArlNow is the worst. Chamber of Commerce / Smart Growth boosters for massive in-fill urbanization. County 'Planning' Staff and Developers' employees trash anyone who doesn't 'go along with the program'.

Anonymous said...

ArlNow is the worst. Of, by, and for Yuptards.

Don aka Anonymous said...

ArlNow is gotcha 'journalism' plus scare-the-mommies news. Everything else is paid content, propaganda press releases, more-growth boosters, and bored people talking trash. Yup, it's the worst.

G.L. aka anonymous said...

You won't see any of the local media admitting Audrey Clement is running an excellent, issues oriented, campaign for school board this year.

22201 said...

New Urbanism boosters control ArlNow and will trash anyone who criticizes 'Smart Growth'.

JNB said...

Then there are the completely closeted LGBTQ Media VIPs who want to know every little thing about everyone's life and trash heterosexuals at every opportunity.

Anonymous said...

Yes. ArlNow is completely controlled by 'Smart Growth' boosters. Smart Growth America paid staff, Arlington County paid staff, and developers's paid staff.

Anonymous said...

Sun Gazette / Inside Nova is up to its usual -- publishing Democratic Party daily PR feeds as 'news' while ignoring everyone else running for political office.

Anonymous said...

They are ALL equally bad. None of them gives a $#!+ about anything but $, $$ and more $$$.

Jeff said...

Stay the fvck away from ArlNow...bunch of greedy total urbanization boosters who could give a s*** about the County's future as interacting livable suburban communities.

xyz123 said...

Agree completely...Scott Brodbeck should sell ArlNow and retire to vibrant Great Falls to 'pursue alternative possibilities'.

Anonymous said...

Majority of the people who post comments to ArlNow don't live in Arlington.

Inside Nova Arlington / Sun Gazette is now owned by a corporation based in PW County.
