ACPD Completely Disinterested in Multi-Modal Safety

Hey Yupette,

Only a couple weeks until the school year begins. So ACPD will be interested in multi-modal safety -- for a couple weeks as that relates to neighborhoods around schools. Rest of the year - forget it.

ACPD only wants to ticket drivers of motor vehicles, for anything and everything. And chase 'bad guys', including bad guys driving motor vehicles (with the exception of pursuing bad guy vehicles at high speed).

Multi-modal safety isn't even on ACPD's radar. How did we get to the point where, in only a couple months, electric scooters are ridden recklessly all over the County, dirt bike and ATV riders from DC feel free to cross into the County, raise hell for awhile, and ride back into DC, where pedestrians have to dodge group bike rides on sidewalks, bicycle bozos won't yield to pedestrians in crosswalks, and when a bicyclist runs into a motor vehicle the cops automatically blame the vehicle's driver?

So how much longer before a pedestrian who gets hit and hurt by a bicycle in a crosswalk sues multiple parties, including the County. Not long. Will be interesting to see how many lawsuits end up being settled via the County Board's agenda.

In a couple weeks ACPD will be ticketing parents driving SUVs for improper child seat use while other parents driving electric cargo bikes zoom through stop signs into the school drop off area.

Millennial cops who do the patrolling love Millennials...look at the s*** the cops let Millennials get away with in Clarendon.

Arlington is increasingly of, by, and for #MeToo Millennial women and Millennial men with PTSD, that's why.

Same top cops have been in charge of ACPD for many years.

County Board Chair is a #MeToo Millennial who can't do enough for Millennials. Another long-time County Board member is a nut case when it comes to bicycles.

Right. Problems affecting ACPD are everyone's fault but ACPD's long time commanders. But why should they care, few ACPD employees live anywhere near Arlington.

There have been what, two Police Chiefs in Arlington in 15 years? So who are to blame for ACPD's various problems?

Regarding any kind of vehicle - 2 wheel, 3 wheel, 4 wheel all the Arlington Police Department is interested in doing is issuing traffic tickets to drivers of 4 wheel motor vehicles....especially to tourists and non-residents.

Seen on another blog....20% of ACPD employees work like dogs....the other 80% are Big Dogs.

Then there's the Commonwealth Attorney's office ;~}

According to Arlington's loony tunes law enforcers you can drive an electric cargo bike with a couple toddlers in it anywhere you want as fast as you want.

Advice - Don't drive during weekday rush hours unless you have to. Arlington County Government is greedy for revenue from motor vehicle owners via tickets and fines so they can narrow the streets and roads to build 'protected lanes' for its pet bicycle groupies.

County Government caters to #MeToo and PTSD Millennial alcholics with lots of disposable income...that's why.

Pedestrians in the R-B corridor are insane...running in front of cars against stoplights at major 4 lane intersections. Duh.

Where are Arlington's Major League Urban Village Idiots when it comes to Multi-Modal Safety -- Local Media Owners, Publishers and Editors?

I'm voting for John Vihstadt and Audrey Clement in November...no one else.

Agree about not driving during rush hours if you can avoid doing so.

Only reason bicycle fanatics aren't riding on the shoulders of the interstates is because the State Police WILL arrest them.

ACPD's commanders have been on the force for decades, so ACPD has only itself to blame for its problems.

ACPD loves chasing shoplifters around Malls, so look for them to be really busy once Ballston Quarter opens.

I'm waiting for the ultimate from the Arlington Police, parent pushing stroller down a sidewalk gets run down by a biker bozo and the parent gets a ticket for failing to yield right of way.

Latest PR from Bike Arlington -- 'As a matter of fact we DO own the sidewalks...also the streets, roads, and trails'.

Pedestrians running across Fairfax Drive without looking to catch buses at Ballston Metro are insane.

Entire County Government is disinterested in multi-modal safety. Police have a laundry list of laws they routinely enforce and laws they won't enforce.

Call 9-1-1 if you see a pedestrian hit by someone on an electric scooter or a bicycle. Like any other vehicle accident.

I blame the Media for going along with Arlington's ongoing Multi Modal Mayhem Mess. BTW, USA in the 21st Century increasingly S U C K S thanks to the Greedy Media.

Electric scooters have a 'Not to Used on Sidewalks' warning label.

USA is going to have big problems starting in about 20 years...starting with multiple extreme weather events every year.

School traffic is the usual mess today - first day of school. Parents stop at stop signs if they feel like it. School buses are 1/3 full, as usual.

Parents walking their kids to school have to be very careful at intersections with crosswalks, 'cause vehicles aren't stopping at Stop signs, including bicyclists.

Transportation Commission is packed with bicycle fanatics per TC members' comments stated during the 9/5/18 meeting.
