Media Elite Keeps Us Ignorant - Then Calls Us Stupid

Hey Yupette,

What's worse than "fake news" -- the infomercials published by news blogs like ArlNow and Inside Nova? The Media keeping us ignorant in the news sections of print and blog publications and then calling us stupid on the editorial pages.

Like information about immigration. If you visit the Department of Homeland Security's Web site and look for immigration data you will come across the following: Number of immigrants granted permanent legal residency in the U.S. during 2016 - more than 1 million; number of persons with student, travel, and work visas who overstayed their visas in 2016 - more than 600,000; number of persons who crossed a U.S. border illegally and weren't apprehended - more than 300,000. Why do the Media keep us ignorant of these data? By the way, the number of immigrants granted permanent legal residency in the U.S. has about about 1 million per year, for many years, including during the 2008 - 2013 economic recession.

How about the Media Elite which keeps us ignorant and calls us stupid? New York Times Board of Directors doesn't include any minority group members. Of course, Mexican mega-billionaire Carlos Slim, who financially bailed out the Times in 2009, has a lot to say about what appears, and doesn't appear in the Times about immigration. A search of Amazon's Board of Directors doesn't reveal any minority group members. Amazon owns and operates The Washington Post.

Anyone see any socio-economic diversity on ArlNow and InsideNova?

Dey shu be all White to me, Homey.

John Smith in Nauck (but you can call me Dwayne). RIP Doc Muse.

Since Amazon took over the Post you have to peel off an ad sticker and remove the Long Roofing ad overleaf to read Page 1 headlines. Duh.

Whether it's Jeff Bezos or Scott Brodbeck the Media Elite put as much distance as possible between the diversity they promote and themselves as they can afford. Fairlington (home of Scott Brodbeck and Scott McCaffrey) was formerly-affordable workforce housing where tiny condos are now listing for more than $500,000. Oh, Fairlington's on the National Register of Historic Places. Meanwhile, Jeff Bezos is doing tear-downs of mansions he buys in Beverly Hills adjoining his luxury enclave, at $10 million per tear-down.

Did any media outlet disclose in 2010 that more than 1 million immigrants became permanent residents of the U.S. during 2009?

InsideNova / Sun Gazette Owner and Publisher Rich Connor reportedly lives on an estate outside Middleburg.

What does it matter? Americans aren't going to take to the streets to protest anything related to the economy. We've been a de facto police state for 16 years.

Media don't tell us the population of the USA, Virginia, and Arlington will grow by 70 million, 2.2 million, and 70,000 respectively over the next 25 years, let alone provide a forum for discussing the consequences of significant population growth.

America was formerly a high school, now a middle school, becoming an elementary school. And American schools are becoming more punitive every year.

Media have helped the Government keep the existence of extraterrestrials secret for 70 years. My grandfather was a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force and told us some hair raising stuff a couple years before he died.

Thanks, I also believe America is a big Middle School.

Local Media and Local Pols can't say enough good things about Doc Muse. Twenty years ago they and the the-County Board wanted to lock Doc Muse up in the same cell with John Robinson and throw away the key.

Media Elite make so much from boosting Smart Growth ubanization they won't allow alternatives to Smart Growth to be discussed, same for Taj Mahal public infrastructure.

Consequences of a 70 million increase in the U.S. population over the next 25 years? When was the last time you heard anyone in a position of authority and responsibility speak about the long term consequences of anything?

Don't like the war in Afghanistan dragging on, and on, and on? Fifty years ago people didn't like the war in Vietnam dragging on, and on, and on. Have we learned anything about fighting wars in the Third World? Fifty years ago the Media were behind LBJ and today the Media are behind Trump when it comes to war fighting, though the Media Elite disliked LBJ and dislike Trump.

Media pass off sightings of possibly-extraterrestrial objects as drone aircraft of one type or another, so the USAF doesn't have to concoct plausible denials anymore.

The Future? Fifty years ago the hottest non-fiction best seller was John Kenneth Galbraith's "The New Industrial State". Parents and grandparents of the Rust Belt Refugees who are today running the United States and Inside-the-Beltway locally couldn't say enough positive things about this book and it's prediction that America would continue to be the World's industrial leader.

Fifty years ago, Bill Clinton, George Bush Jr., and Donald Trump had just turned 21 and were about to enter their Senior year at Georgetown, Yale, and the University of Pennsylvania, respectively. They've led the United States for 16 1/2 of the past 25 years.

Meanwhile, Arlington's Limo Liberal and County Club Republican Elites, including local Media Owners and Publishers, can't gentrify the middle class and essential small businesses out to remote rural areas fast enough.

Who cares that the Rust Belt is being devastated by opioid addiction?

Who to blame? Again, NBC paid Donald Trump more than $200 million over 10 years to be the leading guy on The Apprentice.

Have the Media had anything GOOD to say about people who live in an around Charlottesville? First it was fictitious rape stories, now it's fictitious stories about what occurred when left wingers and right wingers got into a brawl near the UVA campus.

1970 - Houston we have a problem

2017 - Houston has a massive problem

You mean to say Houston's Smart Growth "planners" never thought Houston could receive 50 inches of rainfall in 48 hours?

Has anyone, anywhere, in any decision-making position considered what happens during the next economic recession?

LOL - Entertainment Division paid Donald Trump $200 million over 10 years so he could receive national recognition before running for President. Once elected, NBC's News Division makes tens of millions a month beating up on President Trump.
