Audrey Clement and Peter Rousselot - Arlingtonians of the Year

Hello,

This month AY informally polled our contributors and about a hundred Arlington residents who don't relate to the agendas of either the Republican or Democratic Parties. From a list of ten Arlingtonians who do not adhere to the agendas of the political machine that's controlled Arlington for more than 35 years they chose Audrey Clement and Peter Rousselot as Arlingtonians of the Year for 2016.

Last month Independent Audrey Clement received 27% of the vote for County Board against an opponent who uses huge amounts of political patronage to buy votes from special interest groups. Audrey's campaign platform stressed fiscal and environmental responsibility and government accountability.

Peter Rousselot is a former Chair of the Arlington County Democratic Committee (i.e., the Arlington Democratic Party). Peter's columns in the news blog ArlNow also stress fiscal and environmental responsibility and government accountability.

AY looks forward to Audrey's and Peter's continued activism for better government in 2017.

Cindy

I am also fed up with a one-party regime that makes give-away deals with its cronies. There is no long range planning whatsoever, they just keep cramming more people, vehicles, housing, activities, etc., into this tiny county and hoping things will somehow work. My picks for Turkeys of the Year are the local media who are the regime's boosters. You don't have to go far down the postings on this blog to know who they are.

Anyone know what the agenda is for the joint Arlington County Board / Arlington County Democratic Party meeting at Jay Fisette's estate today?

I agree that both Peter Rousselot and Audrey Clement are positive influences on our civic life. Mild quarrel with your characterization of Peter, though: he is a Dem and I see him as active in trying to reset the agenda of the Dems, rather than operating without relationship to it. Local Dems have had something of a schism, and I see Peter as trying to enable a wider spectrum of views within the context of the Dems, rather than as some sort of independent actor.

Arlington is a one-party regime where fraud is rampant, ranging from non-residents allowed to enroll their children in Arlington's public schools, to non-residents allowed to vote, to no-bid contracts awarded to the regime's cronies, to incumbent candidates buying special interest group votes with tax dollars, to corporate welfare.

Peter is retired and I see him trying to move County Government away from Country Club Republicanism back to serving the needs of the Democratic Party's traditional constituencies.

It's the Republicratic Party. That's why.

Then you have the Civic Federation and the civic associations, advisory commissions, and county staff who are all yellow dog Democrats who adhere to a Neo-Segregationist social and economic agenda - New Urbanism.

New Urbanism is worse, it's Neo-Apartheid.

First County Board meeting of 2017 will be held today, in a County Board member's mansion with the Arlington Democratic Committee attending. Second County Board meeting will be held on January 3rd, so the County Board majority can incorporate the Democratic Committee's 2017 agenda into their comments on Tuesday.

You meant: "First County Board charade meeting will be held on January 3rd..."

I have voted for Audrey every election. My neighborhood is completely controlled by Democratic busybodies and has been for decades.

Schism in the Arlington Democratic Party? What schism? What I see is a Party which - from precinct operatives to County Board members to pet developers - is packed with Plutocrats and Plutocrat wannabes.

Earth to Dave Schutz - Peter gets it, you don't. Been to a Civfed meeting lately? Seen who the County Board appoints to advisory commissions? Seen where tax revenue that should be spent on essential public infrastructure is siphoned off?

Thanks to Audrey for making helicopter noise from VIP Pentagon flights a major issue in her campaign.

Audrey received more than 27,000 votes in a County where elections are rigged year after year. At least 2,000 of the 101,000 persons who "voted" last November were not legally eligible to vote in Arlington.

Same people who move out of the County and rent out their condos get to not only keep their kids in Arlington schools but keep voting in Arlington. See your Democratic Precinct Leader for details if you are considering moving to an affordable McMansion from your Arlington condo.

Civic Federation is a big club, civic associations are little clubs.

Libby Garvey spent the entire year last year meeting with special interests and making expensive promises, in effect buying tens of thousands of votes with tax dollars.

Yes, at least 2,000 people voted in Arlington illegally last November becuse the Democratic Party wanted a huge majority for Hillary in Northern Viginia.

Fradulent absentee voting, fraudulent surrogate voting on Election Day, and voting by people who moved out of the County but still vote here are all too common.

Arlington Civic Federation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Arlington Democratic Party.
