Hey, Yupette,
It's nice that County Board Chair Libby Garvey is so infatuated with bicycles, to he extent she wants County residents to bicycle 24/7/365. But she could at least show some concern for her bicycle buddy neighbors in South Fairlington. A few months ago my and Libby's neighborhood only had serious cracks in the pavement. Now we're being invaded by bicycle eating potholes. You would think that Libby could take some time off from fast-tracking the Rosslyn-Georgetown Gondola to at least survey which streets need immediate repaving, but I guess not.
Fairlington's First Hipster, Scott Brodbeck, is staking out a raccoon den off South 31st Street and Nanny Newsie Scott McCaffrey is out covering affordable housing galas. So they're no help.
Since Libby went head over handlebars after hitting a pothole on South Buchanan Street several years ago, we decided to warn her of potholes ahead in her neighborhood.
Libby's opponent, Audrey Clement, has been riding a bicycle for decades and Audrey HAS promised to make street repaving a priority when she's on the County Board.
Thanks for your blog.

Thanks, Larry. As a bike commuter I am really concerned about potholes, to the extent that I simply cannot fathom how Libby could not have made an issue out of the fact that she broke her shoulder falling off her bike when it went into a pothole on S. Buchanan in 2014.
Surely Libby didn't think her silence would appease ACDC. If that was her thinking, then history has proven her wrong.
Where is the comprehensive multi-modal safety initiative by County Government? Ther is none.
Bicycle Safety is an oxymoron in Arlington County.
So, I see bicyclists zooming through the intersection of S 29th and S Abingdon and heading down the steep S 28th Road hill past McCaffrey's home at about 40 mph. Only a matter of time before the local media report a bicyclist organ donor, which I think is the main reason the police don't enforce any traffic ordinances related to bicycles. Boomer geezers need Millennial donor organs.
Libby is too busy finalizing the vibrant Gondola deal with DC's fun couple - Phil Mendelson and Carol Mitten - to care about potholes.
Arlington Police are knuckleheads who dont live in Arlington and don't csre about Arlington. They love big paychecks from weekends spent babysitting Millennial brats in Clarendon.
Libby is seen in Fairlington on election day. Like Jay Fisette she drives everywhere all the time except when making extravagant promises to and trolling for votes from the bicycle fanatics.
Libby is too busy working with Terry McAuliffe to impose HOT Lanes on her Fairlington neighbors to care about potholes.
I agree that free range bicyclists will become an important source of donor organs, if they aren't already.
You don't expect First Hipster Brodbeck to report his neighbors are driving their kids to Abibgdon School while texting, do you? He wants them to buy McMansions in 22207 featured in ArlNow real estate infomercials.
Go Audrey. You have my vote !!
We deserve much better journalism that the pathetic pandering to the status quo we get from the Post, ArlNow, and Sun Gazette.
Scott Brodbeck will be the first on the scene to report a bicycle accident caused by broken pavement in his neighborhood.
I also believe whomever in the Arlington Police Department come in day to day contact with residents are waiting till they have enough tenure to become employed elsewhere, or, they like all the overtime they earn being Nannies to Millennials.
Fairlington has become a multi-jurisdiction activity area, thanks to New Urbanists like Libby. There's an item on the County' Board's consent agenda Saturday to close streets and turn them into more activity areas. At least 3 streets in Fairlington are on the County's laundry list for closure and repurposing.
Yes, that's why you are seeing some of the County's so-called planners moving from Planning Division to Parks and Rec.
Thirty-five years of Machine Government and counting.
Thirty-five years of Yuppies and counting.
Tired of potholes? Wait a couple years and ride the vibrant Rosslyn-Georgetown Gondola for only $6.50 one-way or $12.50 round-trip. Another Victor Ho$kins Production in collaboration with Phil Mendelson and Carol Mitten.
Potholes in Lovable Libby's neighborhood? No $#!+ Sherlock. You left out the street lighting on her own street that's so dim that her neighbors need flashlights to find their cars in the parking lots.
Arlington Yupette - the blog corrupt New Urbanists love to hate.
Audrey Clement is by far the better County Board canddiate. But, as a Yellow Dog Democrat, I'm obligated to hold my nose and vote for Hillary and Libby.
Does Libby even live in South Fairlington anymore? No one who lives in the neighborhood has seen her for weeks.
Potholes in Libby's neighborhood are hard to see at night. Bike safely.
This year's Neighborhood Conservation spending is on the County Board's consent agenda tomorrow.
County Board will take up Neighborhood Conservation spending on Tuesday at 6:30.
So it's going to be cold in the morning for the next 6 months. Why is the County's transportation priority more bicycles on more crumbling streets?
Not that many Arlington residents commute to work on bicycles.
It's gong to be pouring rain for the next 2-3 days. How many will bike to work? Bike Arlington sucks. Taking $$$ away from alternatives to single occupant vehicle trips.
Look Out Libby - Pothole is still present.
Hey, Yupette, don't expect a Total Hipster like Scott Brodbeck to cover the reality of "vibrant" Fairlington in ArlNow, when he and Lovable Libby need flashlights to navigate to their SUVs from their homes.
County Board passed the outrageous 2016 Neighborhood Conservation Program appropriations without comment on September 27th. True, we need flashlights to navigate broken sidewalks at night in neighborhoods with antiquated street lighting. Meanwhile NC funds go to Libby's pet Democrat 'Community Leaders', year after year.
Elsewhere in America the streets are well lighted with "cobra lights" that actually put light onto streets with energy efficient high-pressure sodium lamps installed.
Libby Garvey and the rest of the County Board voted to spend $4 million for a Ballston Taj Mahal pedestrian bridge while Ballston's brick sidewalks are crumbling and will require at least $20 million to replace. No way I will vote for her.
Yes. More New Urbanist white elephant infrastructure to replace previous New Urbanist white elephant infrastructure that was allowed to deteriorate. New Urbanism aka Smart Growth is a huge taxpayer rip off.
I noticed that nobody is biking to work. Oh, it's raining.
Libby is allowing new brick sidewalks to be installed in Ballston over the objections of the mobility disabled. Who will pay to have these sidewalks torn up and replaced with brushed concrete in 10 years?
Libby and the rest of the County Board only want to make major league deals with their pet developers and non-profits, that's why.
Our so-called future -- Smart Growth Phase III Total Urbanization
Pothole's still there.
