Clement Asks Sanders Supporters to Join Her Campaign, Calls for a Moratorium on Smart Growth

Hello,

AY received a press release from Independent Audrey Clement's campaign for Arlington County Board. In the interest of fairness, AY is printing the press release in its entirety, since Dr. Clement has been ignored by the local Media to the extent they barely acknowledge her campaign's existence.

For Immediate Release: August 1, 2016

ARLINGTON, VA -- County Board Candidate Audrey Clement Calls for Sanders Supporters to Join Her Campaign

I'm Dr. Audrey Clement, Independent candidate for Arlington County Board.

I applaud the efforts of all those Arlington voters who worked hard to make Bernie Sanders the Democratic Nominee for President, and I share your disappointment that Senator Sanders did not succeed,

I happen to share a lot of Bernie's values, among them a sincere interest in good government. As an Independent, I will place meeting the needs of all Arlington residents first and the wants of wealthy special interests last on my agenda when elected to County Board.

So I'm asking you to join my campaign, to make progressive changes locally that you tried to make nationally.

I live in affordable housing that's in danger of being bulldozed for million dollar townhomes, displacing seniors, students, the disabled, and the working poor. I want affordable housing preserved and new affordable housing built that's actually affordable for everyone in Arlington.

I've ridden a bicycle everywhere for decades. But bicycles shouldn't be Arlington's only transportation altrnative to more parking for thousands more single-occupant vehicles.

And it's time for on-site renewable energy installed throughout the County.

It's time for electric vehicles throughout our County, charged by renewable energy sources.

It's time to put a moratorium on Smart Growth -- which is just an euphemism for gentrification -- until there's a comprehensive evaluation of where Smart Growth is taking our County.

Who wants to live in a County that is unaffordable to anyone who earns less than 100% of area median income, or $110,000 per year?

Not me.

My opponent says she's "progressive". She initially voted against the Pike Streetcar and the most extravagant excesses of the Democratic Old Guard. But, having been challenged in a primary election by an Old Guard Democrat, she's gone back to rubber stamping the Arlington Democratic Party's agenda.

With your help we can have better, more diverse, County Government at less cost.

I urge you to visit my website -- http://www.audreyclement.com -- to volunteer, donate, or read and comment on my blog.

Audrey Clement, Ph.D.

Second the Motion for a moratorium on Smart Growth.

LAST thing we need is four more years of Lyin' Libby and tax, borrow, spend the County into a BBB credit rating to subsidize Neverland-on-the-Potomac built by Libby's Yellow Dog corporate cronies,

Go Audrey !!!

Fiscal responsibity in County Government? What's that? Thanks for telling us about their Christmas in July party at the last County Board meeting. Time for Libby Garvey to be retired followed by Jay Fisette next year.

We are a couple months from cold weather and the Smart Growth fanatics like Libby Garvey are telling everyone to ride bicycles this Winter.

We are 90% back to where the County was 3 years ago. Only a little less extravagant spending to buy votes from special interest groups like the aquatics fanatics, bicycle fanatics, dog fanatics, performing arts fanatics, etc.

Dump Libby in November...then dump Smart Growth starting next year.

Smart Growth is a neurological disease, like rabies. Once you're infected all you are capable of doing is infecting others.

ArlNow actually printed the above press release verbatim, followed by about 50 of ArlNow's Bozo Brigade posting trash comments.

You travel to DE, MD, NY and you see all kinds of solar everywhere, and Solar City trucks and vans everywhere. Same in NC. Can't do the same in VA, Dominion won't allow it.

Sleazy Scott Brodbeck printed Clement's PR verbatim so the skanks that infest ArlNow could trash it. Slimy Scott McCaffrey is up to his usual, ignoring all non-incumbents until a week before the elections.

Yeah, Libby is all for paying $60 million (with the usual delays and cost overruns) for an aquatic center and $500,000 for a bus shelter on the Pike.

Scott did post Audrey Clement's press release today...with his usual negative comments about her.

Local Media are completely biased towards incumbents, in return for the incumbents providing Local Media with access and advanced information.

All Libby and the other County Board members want to do anymore is make corporate welfare mega deals with out-of-state real estate trusts.

How much did it cost to have Virginia Tech architecture students design the Neverland-on-the-Potomac Waterpark while Rosslyn's streets and sidewalks crumble?

Anonymous said...

Typical of Libby Garvey, Jay Fisette, et. al., architecture students design an extravagant waterpark rather than an affordable bus shelter.

I am sick and tired of watching everything deteriorate and crumble because their Smart Growth ideology dictates that nothing can be preserved, renovated, improved, made over.

HOT lanes are another huge charade whose real purpose is to funnel more single-occupant vehicles from the outer suburbs into and through Arlington.

Anonymous said...

Speaking of the local media, anyone know where Arlington County's Director of Smart Growth Propaganda Diana Sun is retiring to?

Anonymous said...

Deterioration? Libby and the County Board just gave the REIT that allowed Ballston Common Mall to become an eyesore over 20 years a $60 million bailout.

Anonymous said...

It gets worse...all the advisory commissions are packed with Smart Growth fanatics appointed by the Arlington Democratic Party and approved by the County Board.

BTW, Scott McCaffrey - who has a prescription to fix every problem - served on the Arlington Chamber of Commerce's Executive Committee while Arlington's office vacancy rate grew from 8% to 23%.

Arlington is so far behind on renewable energy it's pathetic. Arlington's various apartment and condo communities don't even have portable solar water heaters for their swimming pools, the kind that you unroll on the pool deck in early May to heat the pool water by Memorial Day.

Never mind renewable energy, last County Board meeting Libby Garvey voted for the Wellington Apartments corporate welfare deal - unaffordable, energy in-efficient, will generate many more single-occupant vehicle trips.

If you want to kick the can down the road for 4 more years, vote for Hillary, Beyer, and Garvey.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, what a Democratic Team -- Land Rover, Range Rover, and Volvo SUVs in every 3-bay McMansion's garage by 2020.

Anonymous said...

I have traveled to the NE and NC and Arlington Democrats have to be in the pockets of the fossil fuel energy providers. No way I will vote for any more Democrats who run for local office. They've made Arlington into into a one-party reactionary regime like Cuba.

Scott McCaffrey finished Journalism 101, ignoring non-Democrat candidates, and Journalism 102, printing Democratic PR as news, and is currently taking Journalism 103, writing and publishing infomercials for the Arlington Democratic Party.

Inside Nova now mixes "clickbait", infomercials, and advertising with the editorialized news. Why whould anyone take this news blog seriously? I don't, and haven't for awhile.

Anyone wondering about the future of Arlington should read Sinclair Lewis's novels from 90 years ago. Chamber of Commerce booster oligarchy ran everything, anyone who didn't go along with the program was a wacko. Yeah, Hillary's, Beyer's, and Garvey's agendas amount to kicking the can down the road another 4 years.

Arlington is increasingly resembling a similar-size city in China. Both are run by "Socialists" who embrace every nuance of Capitalism, from the Jaycees to the showcase Mercedes dealerships in the middle of downtown. Both governed by an Elite who rely on the local police and national security bureaucracy to enforce conformity.

Anonymous said...

I've heard that Nick "Yellow Dog" Benton is ailing. May be a good opportunity for McCaffrey to become Editor of the FC News-Press.

Anonymous said...

Kiwanis are the Social Service Elite in Arlington.

Anonymous said...

Then there's ArlNow, where at least 50% of the people who are allowed to post comments are Smart Growth promoters.

Anonymous said...

Arlington police spend about 40% of their time chasing 'suspicious persons'. Only about 10% of their time is spent assisting the Democratic Party in maintaining conformity.
