Anti-Dumping Enforcement Would Be 'Too Embarrassing' for Dems, Pike Reycling Site to be Relocated

Hey Yupette,

Thanks for this blog.

FYI, as the result of an investigation by the County Manager's Office into the long-time illegal dumping at the Columbia Pike - South Four Mile Run recycling drop off point, the County Board and County Manager have decided to move the recycling drop off to another location at a cost of several million dollars. Space now taken by recycling bins will be available for contractors who are loyal Democrats to park their trucks overnight and on weekends.

There WAS an investigation as to who were and are illegally dumping household items and home renovation debris and the Democratic Regime decided that if the police started arresting people for illegally dumping that would prove to be too embarrassing to the Democratic leadership, since a number of Democrats were and are doing the dumping while DES looked the other way, for more than a decade.

After 30 years of one-party rule, it's become politically impossible for DES to install video cameras and for the police (who are already on the WOandD bike trail arresting Latinos for drinking beer) to apprehend people who are dumping illegally.

The relocation of the recycling drop off is supposed to occur before the next County Board meeting, so it will be interesting to see in whose back yard it ends up and where the Pike neighbors and contractors will dump their junk after September.

Earth to Arlington Voters: DES employees were PAID to look the other way for more than a decade.

Who gave the contractors permission to park in the lot? I thought the lot was supposed to be parking for people who wanted to ride bicycles, run, and walk on the WO&D Trail.

Put the relocated recycling bins in Jay Fisette's neighborhood. Give Arlington's LGBTs who are vying to get their vibrant mini-estates into Architectural Digest something to rant about at Freddies.

Katie Cristol and Christian Dorsey have lived in the Pike corridor for several years.

Let me guess, funding for a new recycling drop off will be on the County Board's Consent Agenda next month.

More proof that the Arlington Police Department is full of worthless knuckleheads.

Whomever is/was dumping would tell the cops DES allows dumping and give the cops the name of a person in DES that picks up all the junk.

It's like the biketards get to run stop signs and traffic lights. One party government for more than thirty years, what can you expect?

Looks like Lyin' Libby has done a Hillary (again).

Hillary: Personal E-mail servers, what personal e-mail servers?

Libby: Yellow dog Democrat neighborhood dump on the Pike, where is that? Oh, my daughter often goes there because she lives close by and she never mentioned any dumping to me and I am sure Carol Mitten would have informed me, blah, blah.

Yes I was on the County Board for 12 years and my amigos never said nada about dumping their construction debris at that recycling site. I don't know nada how all that household junk got into those Corona beer boxes.

Arlington Police are constantly out ticketing vehicles that are illegally parked in neighborhood zoned parking as the result of neighborhood complaints. Looks like the neighborhood dump was/is off-limits to the cops.

Just a reminder that the next County Board meeting will be held at Jay Fisette's home on August 22nd. Special award and recognition to Erik Gutshall at the top of the agenda.

So how many millions will it coat to design and construct a new recycling drop off?

Retire Libby in November. Tell Jay to announce he's retiring next year. Twenty years of progressive pandering to special interests from each of them is enough.

Is Erik Gutshall still on the Planning Commission?

Anonymous said...

The way they stay in power is by buying special interest votes with tax dollars. It's true. We can't afford 4 more years of Libby and Jay.

Yes. Libby Garvey voted for millions to build bigger school parking lots and student drop offs. Won't even ask that parents put their kids on school buses (typically 1/3 full) or that high school kids take ART buses to school.

The other way they stay in power is by handing pre-written press releases to the local media that are printed as news, provide the local media with advance information, and grant exclusive interviews.

Scott McCaffrey, Scott Brodbeck and other media editors read A.Y. They also have their own news sources. They are not going to jeopardize the laundry list of gimmes they receive from County Government by printing or posting anything embarrassing to County Government.

Erik Gutshall hasn't attended a meeting of the Planning Commission in 4 months but is still Vice-Chair of the Planning Commission. Another reason to retire Libby Garvey. If there were 2 or 3 Independents on the County Board Erik would not still be on the Planning Commission. Another reason one party government sucks.

I will vote for Audrey Clement for no other reason than 30 years of one-party government is about 25 years too long. It's just going to get more absurd if she and Jay Fisette are re-elected. Next up is their $250 million convention center in Potomac Yards, 'cause Arlington's gotta have one, just as Arlington had to have a streetcar.

Erik Gutshall not only didn't attend Planning Commision meetings for 4 months, he didn't vote for or against the huge infill projects the Planning Commission approved during those 4 months.

Then there's Rosemary Ciotti, who's been on the PC for 10 years. Big disability community advocate, but doesn't want to talk about the problems the mobility disabled are having in her own community with crumbling sidewalks.

The typical "gratuity" paid by remodeling contractors to DES Solid Waste employees at the recycling site is/was $10.

People like Libby Garvey and Jay Fisette have been in government way too long. It's all about them, we're only nuisances to them.

Vote for Hillary and Libby...kick the can down the crumbling road another 4 years.

Anonymous said...

I no longer drop anything off there, too many lead paint chips and who knows what else in the construction debris.

Anonymous said...

Nice that the Democratic Regime allows Erik to take months off from being PC Vice-Chair to run for CB and avoid voting for controversial mixed-use projects.

Years of construction debris dumped there, DES employees who clean that site should be tested for lead exposure. Who knows what else, PCBs?

I'm not voting for a Presidential candidate, will likely only vote for Audrey Clement. The Democrats only take care of themselves and fellow Democrats.

What happened to Libby Garvey? Gondola deal with DC will cost Arlington $30 million plus, Rosslyn Waterpark will cost Arlington $100 million, Longbridge Aquatic Center will cost at least $50 million, Potomac Yards Convention Center (to be announced after the November elections) will cost at least $250 million.

Typical New Urbanism - Existing infrastructure can never be adequately maintained, always plenty of money to replace it.

Libby Garvey was on the School Board approved both Wakefield HS and W-L HS plans with an inadequate number of classrooms and which included every amenity that had nothing to do with intellectual learning, i.e., A-B-C, 1-2-3.

The Pike recycling drop off should tested for hazmat, like PCBs.

There is still dumping but now the County picks up the household trash and contractor debris every day.

I would love to see a 10K bike race every weekend in Ashton Heights beginning at 7 AM with the start at Mark Schwartz's mini-estate and the finish at Jay Fisette's mini-estate. Put food trucks in front of the Smart Growth boosters homes along the race course.

Contractors trucks are still parked near the recycling drop off and contractors are still dumping home renovation debris there.
