VIP 'Planners' Enjoy Suburban Life in Fairfax County, Impose Massive Urbanization on Arlington

Hey, Yupette,

Driven out to McLean lately? That's where the planners and VIP decision makers who are imposing total urbanization on Arlington County live. No bicycle lanes, no bicycles, no bikeshare stations, everyone drives everywhere. Thousands of acres of fallow farmland available for McMansions (that horse boarding farm a mile up Chain Bridge Road from Arlington is still for sale, by the way).

Ever attended McLean Day? Massive traffic. What a mess. McLean VIPs who are imposing massive urbanization on Arlington love it. Check out the McLean blogs that covered this event on Saturday.

For the record, Arlington's County Manager, Economic Development Director, and Planning Director live in suburban Fairfax County. So do the planners, attorneys, and other key 'decision makers' who are urbanizing Arlington.

What have they learned from the Tysons mess? Massively urbanize a suburban area and then tell everyone to ride bicycles. LOL.

Fire Donnellan, Holzheimer, and Brosnan. Kick Garvey off the County Board in November.

Yes, they LOVE McLean Day. McLean Patch covered the event. What a mess. No one rode a bicycle. They are all on a bicycle free diet.

Arlington residents are a bunch of brainwashed sheeple.

Many VIPs and local celebrities who are allegedly Arlington residents and 'community leaders' and 'decision makers' live in other states 3 to 9 months a year.

Needs to be repeated:

Arlington Residents are a bunch of brainwashed sheeple.

Can you specify who you are referring to in the following quote? "So do the planners, attorneys, and other key 'decision makers' who are urbanizing Arlington."

How about - the County Board's favorite law firm.

Yeah, McLean is a 'bicycle free zone'. The Richey Rich Elitists put their $2,000 bicycles on their SUVs and drive to the bicycle trails in Arlington.

McLean Day --- What a complete dumb growth disaster. And McLean residents love it.

This has been posted here before but bears repeating:

When the County Board offered to make Barbara Donnellan County Manager she responded "Only if I don't have to move to Arlington".

How about a new thread - Region's Greatest Yuptard - Jay Fi$ette?

One thing they all have in common - they want you to buy an expensive vehicle (or two) that you will park and pay personal property tax, sales tax, licensing fees, etc. to own, but never drive.

Except to McLean Day.

Jay drives a Prius - everywhere.

County Board's second most favorite law firm is located in Tysons - duh.

Yes, we are a bunch of brainwashed sheeple. We let people who live in on cul de sacs in McLean bulldoze Arlington's suburban neighborhoods and replace them with mega infill that has zero open space except for a 200 square foot plaza surrounded by retail.

Duh said...

Urban Village Idiots? They're removing gas stations, auto dealerships, and auto repair shops and replacing them with upscale ethnic restaurants and upscale retail and luxury housing with 200-400 new parking spaces under the new mixed use building.

Meanwhile, CivFed's R & E Comittee is busy producing "Kubicki Theater FY 2014", starring Reitsfinanceminister Wayne Kubicki.

Where does my car get fixed, Dude?

Achtung, Sheeple:

We are removing this Bolshevik vehicle repair corporation from the REIT in order that the nearby Nationalist Socialist Mercedes Benz Dealership may better serve you.

Anyone seen the Post Metro section lately? When will it disappear?

Next Democratic Governor will appoint Zimmerman to a top transportation position. You saw it here.

Yes, Streetcar Czar.

Heard at last night's County Board meeting: It's unacceptable for nonresident VIPS who live in sprawl subdivisions that haven't changed in 50 years to impose massive urbanization on Arlington.

Isn't it time for the CB to do their summer travel thing to check up on their 'offshore investments'?

Yupette, did you see where the public is instructed to send comments re the Columbia Pike Streetcar? Oakton, VA. It figures.

Anonymous said...

Oakton? Even more of a dumb growth suburb than McLean.

Do any of the Walsh-Colluci attorneys who push the massive urbanization of Arlington actually live in Arlington?

The invitation is open for bids for redevelopment of the Safeway at 5101 Wilson blvd, at the KLNB Realty site http://www.klnb.com/Email_Fliers/images/5101_Wilson/5101_Wilson.pdf.

The architectural drawings in the document indicate a height of c.72', approximately a 6- or 7-story building (approximately 2 floors for the retail plus 4 floors of residential apartments on top). A fast track response is being required by 6/15.

The drawings are said to be similar to those previously presented to the JBG group, developers of the Bob Peck site and other Arlington areas. Informed opinion is that the county board will approve rezoning and a change to the Arlington general land use plan to allow this project.

As a part of its Neighborhood Conservation Plan, the Bluemont Civic Association put together a plan for the redevelopment of the Safeway on Wilson and the Safeway parking lot, along with nearby existing buildings, into what the association has dubbed the Village Center:

http://www.bluemontcivic.org/docs/Bluemont-forWeb.pdf

http://www.bluemontcivic.org/docs/BCA_Dev_FAQ.pdf

Evolved planning includes 5 tories of mixed use buildings and a parking garage - BCA is said to have already consulted JBG regarding the plan.

The Bob Peck development, along with the proposed Safeway development, break with the long standing attempts of citizen
associations to stave off intense development in the remaining part of north Arlington west of Glebe, as well as the traditional acquiescence of the county board not to overtly push such development.

Yes, send Libby Garvey packing. She's been nothing but a politrickster for the past 20 years.

Venable law firm is worse. Headquartered in Baltimore. Local office in Tysons.

How about non-residents on County Staff and in the Arlington Police Dept. who allow loud motorcycles with illegal mufflers or no mufflers to bother residents all weekend every Memorial Day?

How many years more before the Yuppie 'culture' crashes and burns? They get worse every year.

How about the neo-segregationist hypocrites from Rock Spring United Congregational Church? And the other Scribes and Pharisees who belong to Arlington's "Faith Communuity"?

Anonymous said...

"Yuppie culture" is another Arlington oxymoron, like "affordable housing", and "urban village".

How does allowing a bunch of a-holes with criminal records to ride around all weekend on motorcycles with illegal mufflers or no mufflers honor anybody, much less Americans who served and died in our armed forces?

Anonymous said...

Surprise, Surprise. No one rode a motorcycle to McLean Day last weekend.

Anonymous said...

Non-resident Arlington Police allow non-resident bikers to make as much noise as possible all weekend every Memorial Day weekend. How sane is that?

FYI - County Manager and Chief of Police both live in Clifton.

Massive urbanization has reached the fence at Arlington Cemetery. What's next, a huge office building amidst the tombs?
