Civ Fed / County Board Meetup - County Board Will Fast Track Pet Projects

Hi Yupette,

I attended tonight's County Board - Civic Federation joint meeting tonight. No surprises. The County Board will fast-track its pet projects - Pike and Crystal City trolleys, Longbridge Park Aquatic Center, and recreation and entertainment priorities. Funding for the luxuries will be obtained by cutting the basics and raising taxes and fees.

It was interesting to hear Jay Fisette state that taxpayers could save a lot of money if the County and Dominion Resources accelerated the replacement of old energy-inefficient streetlights. But that's something that Dominion is not about to let happen.

Zimmerman became animated about how many benefits his Pike trolley will bring to the local economy. He isn't worried about the cost, estimated to be between $140 and $200 million. He could care less about current residents being displaced by gentrification.

The County Board did not want to talk about basic services at all.

Bet a doughnut that the County Board will hit us with a 5% or 6% real estate tax increase.

Heard that the Green Party will nominate Audrey Clement for County Board.

More of the same ahead: more dumb growth urbanization, more big tax increases, more big dollar vanity projects, more big favors for big business.

I heard Zimmerman wants the trolley for his kids -- they can't be bothered to ride bikes or to take the bus.

Why is Zimmerman so interested in "small business"? He needs lambs to fatten up so he can fleece them when they become sheeple to pay for his pet mega-projects.

Someone stood up and told the truth about the Fairlington Civic Association - it's an elitist group that excludes residents for any reason or no reason. Just like about 80% of the other civic associations in Arlington.

Talk about corrupt. Zimmerman gave the Fairlington Civic Association permission to keep micro-managing restaurant music and seating in Shirlington Village until the Shirlington restaurant owners come to their senses and begin buying full page ads in the FCA's monthly newsletter. This is known in law enforcement circles as "extortion".

Civic Associations charge a poll tax, keeping political power with the well-off white folk, just the way Der REITs-Fuhrer wants it.

Did the Civic Association raise the issue of poorly plowed and unplowed streets? No.

At least 80% of the CivFed delegates who attended last night's meeting are County Board cheerleaders or no longer care who does what.

Fairgrrl, the Fairington Citizens Association is another White Citizens Council, like those that micro-manage Barcroft, Douglas Park, Lyon Park, Lyon Village, etc.
