Hello, Ms. Yupette,
I am 62 years old and retired a year ago. It was a big mistake for me to spend last January and February in Arlington. Now that Barbara "We're Working to Fix It" Donnellan is back as County Manager I am not going to spend January and February in Arlington and I am looking forward to an enjoyable mid-winter in a Florida rental apartment.
I am tired of a County that can't provide the basics, like effective snow removal, but can spend tens of millions on entertainment and recreation amenities.
I hope Arlington has a mild winter, but I won't be here to experience whatever weather this winter brings.

C'mon, now, bicycling to work in the snow is lots of fun.
You too? I've given up expecting Arlington County to care about the needs of anyone over 50. I'm outta here for Jacksonville on December 15th.
So what do 2 or 3 months in a Deep South winter rental (not on the Gold Coast) cost? A couple thousand dollars. It's worth it.
Does anyone expect that anything County Government does will be more than the same-old, same-old with Barbara Donnellan as County Manager?
As a matter of fact, there will be more people on bicycles trying to navigate snow clogged streets with Barbara Donnellan back as County Manager.
I have no confidence in Barbara Donnellan as an effective County Manager. None.
Arlington County's idea of accomodating seniors during winter months is to offer an hour a week special at the Iceplex party zone as warmup for navigating streets that don't get cleared and APS/PRCR sidewalks that aren't salted or shoveled.
Barbara Donnellan has already put out a press release stating that the next budget will be like the last budget.
Jay Fisette recommends winter rentals in Key West -- not suitable for anyone who doesn't have a 6-figure income.
As I read it Mike Brown was hired because Barbara Donnellan was a disaster at running the County but great at finding money to fund the County Board's pet projects.
The bicycle fanatics want the County to plow trails when there's a foot of new snow so they can ride their bicycles to work.
Fisette is completely configuring the County for 20-something singles. He and the County Board don't want you to drive. You are supposed to own an expensive SUV that you pay car tax on but never use and ride a bicycle e everywhere.
I lost too much productive time in Arlington last winter and decided to go the telework route from coastal Georgia this winter. Plus, no one will force me to ride a bicycle.
You would think that Jay Fisette would want excellent snow removal services provided by the County. So all his friends can still ride their bicycles to the Gay-Lesbian Artisphere party if there's a snowstorm on December 3rd.
I am not going to be housebound for 3-5 weeks like last year. My daughter is happy to have me for a visit to North Florida in January and February. Enough of a county that can spend tens of millions on all-weather playing fields but can't plow its streets, let alone the sidewalks.
I no longer trust Arlington County Government do anything efficiently except stage festivals, galas, and parties. I will be spending February in south Florida
