Planetarium a "Wake Up' for Future Infrstructure Maintenance and Renovation

Hi Yupette,

If the school system can't find $400,000 in a $452 million budget to renovate the Planetarium how will they be able to maintain all the expensive recreation infrastructure in and around the Taj Mahal high schools they are building? Where is the money going to come from in 10 years to replace all the synthetic surface playing areas?

We should ask the same question of the fiscally irresponsible County Board and its Chairman "Giveaway" Jay.

Why the money will come from further reductions in library services, another doubling of property taxes, another doubling of fees for youth programs, another tripling of fees for recreation center usage, another tripling of water and sewage charges and yet more property tax surcharges assessed against existing homeowners and businesses to fund the infrastrucuture needed for new development.

That's what has worked the last ten years. Why should things be any different going forward?

LBF, we are talking about $1 million every 8 years to renew one synthetic surface playing field.

Aren't you all aware that the one thing that all socialist republics have in common is excellent sports teams? Let us not deny our Socialist Youth the opportunity to excel in sports.

Yes, Comrade, let's also give our Socialist Youth a competitive advantage when competing against other Socialist Republics - Falls Church, DC, Alexandria, and so on.

Never mind the U.S. Constitution, we have to relinquish control of public infrastructure to religious institutions whenever that would result in more votes for incumbents.

Is it legal to use tax dollars to build infrastructure for private and religious schools?

Do you wonder why people with kids buy homes with big back yards?

If the County Board and School Board keep building expensive recreation and entertainment infrastructure we will be spending 20-30 percent of the budget every year for operation, debt service, maintenance, renovation, and staffing.

Look at the job postings on the County web site and see all the Artisphere positions (countycrats will probably take them down when they see that I'm mentioning this). Debt service is just the tip of the iceberg for the monuments to special interests.

Why am I not surprised - they're the Christian Socialist Democrats.

Anyone know what percent instruction takes from the school budget vs. administration, sports, etc.?

Next up are an expensive aquatic center and a very expensive shared street light rail system. Shared street light rail is so expensive to maintain that cities that have one are taking it out of service and replacing it with buses.
