Baird Ignores Overcrowding, Achievement, Focuses on Gay and Lesbian Issues

Hello Yupette,

Why on earth would I vote for Sally Baird for School Board? She ignores critical issues like overcrowding and student achievement and talks about gay and lesbian events like "Coming Out Day" instead. We can't afford another four years of Sally Baird on the School Board. Neither can our children.

I would like to see a thread about Gay and Lesbian bullying of students on 'Coming Out Day'.

When I was a freshman at a large midwestern university 15 years ago the campus gay and lesbian advocacy groups bulled freshman to "come out" on Coming Out Day. That totally turned me off to gay and lesbian advocacy. With an overcrowding crisis looming you would think Sally Baird would have made Arlington's children the School Board's priority, not her personal politics.

The School Board not only ignored the looming overcrowding crisis they chose to spend a ton of money building recreation space rather than brick and mortar classrooms when they planned the new Wakefield HS.

Bet you a doughnut the new Wakefield HS has trailer classrooms when it opens.

School System already has 62 trailer classrooms this school year.

Our kids NEED brick and mortar classrooms. What our kids GET are the School Board's WANTS - more world class high school athletic infrastructure.

I don't want my kid to try to learn in a trailer classroom because Sally Baird wants to spend, spend, spend on athletics and recreation. Time for a change on the School Board.

More stress on ACADEMIC achievement not more Country Club athletics...Miriam Gennari for School Board.

The School Board finally figured out that kids (lots of kids) were coming to school hungry? Baird should not be running for School Board. She should be running a Club Med with Patrick Murphy.

Kids are also malnourished. With all the emphasis on diet the school system can't persuade kids to eat a healthy diet and not have coffee and doughnuts for breakfast.

Heather, everybody, Arlington taxpayers give the school system $452 million to educate approximately 21,250 K-12 students. That's $21,270 per student. I am tired of hearing "we've got to do better" from the School Board. They have got to go starting with Sally Baird.

How many trailer classrooms will our kids try to learn inside after another 4 years of Sally Baird? 200? 300?
