Greens Lose I-66 Widening Case

On Friday Federal District Court Judge Claude Hilton issued an opinion supporting USDOT and VDOT regarding spot widening of I-66 between the Dulles Toll Road and Rosslyn. The Court determined that VDOT and USDOT followed Federal laws and rules when planning I-66 improvements and the Plaintiffs did not prove actual harm would result from the planned improvements.

Judge Claude Hilton? Let me guess. VDOT and the USDOT wrote the opinion and he signed it.

What did you expect from a neo-can neanderthal like Claude Hilton?

Judge Hilton is to plaintiffs as Fox News is to CNN.

Yes, he typically uses the government's brief as the basis for his opinion.

Anyone know if the Greens are going to appeal to the Fourth Circuit?

Is the decision on-line somewhere?

Looks like the Greens will appeal.

Another basic survival issue for anyone who earns $100,000 per year who the County Board wants to gentrify out so the County Board can continue to raise taxes in order to to build more expensive arts, entertainment, and recreation infrastructure for everyone who earns more than $200,000 per year.

County government is a huge wealth transfer program from needs to wants.

Yes, if you don't earn $200,000 a year so you can live in an unaffordable home driving into and out of Arlington is going to be impossible in a few years.

Judge Hilton is a Reaganite who hates "liberals".

Something to keep in mind is that this will make it easier for us Arlington residents to go to places to the west, not just facilitate commuting for folks living in the exurbs. Tysons and points further out will be much easier to get to.

Easy to get to? The Greens, and many others, are concerned that this two-track system with no express capability will generate more automotive traffic.

Greens are appealing.
