According to County Staff who are preparing lay-off contingency plans for a large budget shortfall in Arlington County next year, employees who provide essential services would be the first target for lay-offs and early retirements, while County employees who are engaged in furthering the County Board's pet projects and special interests will have ample job security over the next several years.

You don't think they're going to suspend work on their favorite vanity projects (e.g., Columbia Pike trolley) do you?
We should fund a comprehensive surfeillance division of the Arlington Police Department to determine who is posting these anti-government messages.
Chamber of Commerce fully endorses the Columbia Pike Trolley.
Does this mean my street gets repaved in 2033 rather than 2023?
OK, if I get laid off I am going to let anyone who wants to know about the pay offs and rip offs that occur on a bi-partisan basis at 2100 Clarendon Boulevard.
Such as.....?
Duh...does it have something to do with "development"?
Try...moving money around across fiscal years and around budget accounts.
Why do the "decision makers" get so bent of of shape when anyone proposes any form of renewable energy in Arlington? Are they ALL on the payrolls of the utilities, the coal companies, the oil companies?
Whe is thw "go to" person for a family that's moving out of Arlington and wants to keep its kids enrolled in Arlington schools? We will still own our Arlington condo which we will rent.
It's a fringe benefit, you don't have to "go to" anyone.
Why am I not surprised that one of Arlington's trades employees was killed on the job and another seriously hurt? The County gives no recognition, respect, or even adequate safety supervision to trades employees.
