Time for Jim Moran to Retire

Guest post from Cindi, in Westover:

"It's time for Congressman Jim Moran to announce he's retiring. He's been in Congress for 19 years. He's going nowhere. The Democratic leadership will never appoint him to a major leadership position. His legislation is going nowhere, and hasn't gone anywhere for years in a Democratic Congress. He's under investigation with his good bud, John Murtha, for favors to military contractors in return for campaign cash. All Jim Moran's done for the past decade is talk...and more talk. Time for a Progressive to repreeent us in Congress what can and will get things done? I hope so."

Cindi, I agree. Check out Jim Moran's legislation on loc.gov. He isn't even getting co-sponsors anymore.

Please, Congressman Moran, announce you are retiring ASAP so we can elect a Progressive Democrat whose get up and go hasn't got up and gone.

What the hell has Jim Moran been doing since the Dems took control of the House 3..count them 3... years ago? Apparently little or nothing.

Jim Hurysz should run again. Moran hated it when he ran and that shows he was scared.

What the hell has Moran been doing about I-66 and I-395 congestion? Bringing more Federal employees who can't afford to live in the 8th CD into his district over already badly-congested highways and interstates.

Two weeks ago Jim Moran blathered about the Third World for 2 hours with his media flunky Nick Benton, Editor of the Falls Church Moran-Press, but said nothing specific about how he would help fix the transportation problems in his own district.

Same News-Press interview, Moran stated that the U.S. economy is going to collapse in 2011. Just what we need from our Congressman.

Jim H. has the money to run, he bought lots of depressed stocks 6 months ago.

Like the parent company of the Sun-Gazette, now General Electric media mergers & acquisitions.

Moran wants light rail in every neighborhood, at a cost of $150 million per neighborhood.

People, have you seen the bills Jim Moran is sponsoring this session of Congress? Pathetic. Only one that has a change of passing is his Indian Tribes Recognition aka Reservation Gambling bill. Not even relevant to his district.

Jimbo should announce his retirement now and give Brian a good head start.

If someone was very very smart they would search out Jim Moran's earmarks. An interesting list. Sure he earmarked a little for the women's shelter but a lot of his earmarks are for places in DC. Its on the web if you choose to look for it. Citizens for government waste or some such thing. Follow the money.

There was a blog named "Goodbye Jim" that had detailed information about Moran's wheeling and dealing with defense contractors, earmarks, his several upscale residences including the mansion where he apparently actually lives in McLean, the activities of his wife's real estate firm, etc. Basic problem with Moran is he is doing next to nothing for his district, has been told to sit down, shut up, and behave by Pelosi, and has been de facto retired for about 5 years.

Jim Moran should announce he's retiring so Brian can get elected. I don't want someone like Chris Zimmerman representing me.

What can you expect when Democrats like Howard Dean appear with Moran at constituent forums? More of the same. If Jim Moran cared about his constituents and the Democratic Party he would have retired two years ago when it became evident that Pelosi would never let him accomplish anything significant. His brother would be a much better congressman.

Rumor is that Brian wants to serve in the state senate.

We don't need Zimmerman in Congress, he's made enough of a mess locally.

Zimmerman...another Gerry Connolly. No thank you.

If Howard Dean were concerned about the future of the Democratic Party he would have told Jim Moran to retire two years ago along with Murtha and several other charter members of the Democratic Bad Boyz Caucus.

Moran is gonna vote for whatever corporate welfare for the health insurance industry bill comes out of the Senate. He's been scamming his constituents for 15 years.

Moran's transportation earmarks go for widening already congested highways and maintaining an obsolete transit system. His key transportation adviser is his long time bud Jack Taylor, owner of Jack Taylor Alexandria Toyota.

Walter Reed Drive, most of the D.O.D. BRAC employees moving to offices in Arlington and Alexandria don't use public transportation, have never used public transportation, and will never use public transportation.

Moran is only concerned about his favorite people, programs, and special interests and has been for a long time.

Moran moved his district office from Franconia to Old Town so he could schmooze with his good old boy buds from the time he was Mayor.

In 18 months all legislative districts will be re-gerrymandered...err.. re-districted after the 2010 Census and Jim Moran wants to be around to draw the boundaries of the 8th CD.

Yes, it's time for Jim Moran to retire. He's suited to be Chairman of a large non-profit that hosts many large charity events, not a Member of Congress.

Why does Jim Moran keep getting re-elected? He and his wealthy wife spend their evenings / weekends with the wealthy elite, including media owners, producers and editors. He also bestows earmarks (taxpayer dollars) on local non-profits run by his friends. All of this does nothing for his district nor his constituents. He has been getting away with this for years.

The Post had the opportunity to dump Moran in 2004 but chose to keep him around.

I think we are stuck with Jim Moran for another 3 years.
