Several A.Y. visitors asked how much Arlington County spends on personnel. You can obtain information from the County's Budget Web site at:

I wondered why I can't get my street paved.
Divide the cost per employee by 2080, which is the number of hours worked per year (52 weeks X 40 hrs/wk). Sheesh
They work 50 weeks a year. Many County employees get more than 2 weeks' vacation.
OK, so are taxpayers paying $60-something an hour for someone to answer the phones in the County Board Office?
Appears so......
Hey, Yupette, did you notice how much the PR Team in the County Manager's Office costs the taxpayers? About $60 an hour. To crank out press releases that the Sun-Gazette prints as "news".
Probably costs the taxpayers $120 for County Staff to write a press release for the Sun Gazette.
Scott McCaffrey was told to support the Democratic Party with news features as well as rewritten press releases in return for AIM producing SG's videos.
I need my street paved too....
Hi Yupette,
Can we also have some data for other County Departments?
I'm outraged at how much taxpayers spend for basic stuff like someone answering the telephone in a County office.
Can wee see more of this stuff?
What are we paying the police and firefighters? Also, Commissioner of the Revenue and Treasurer? BTW, did you know that at least 100 County employees have no-show jobs, for example, they on extended maternity leave for years?
Thanks for the info., Yupette.
How about street repaving?
