The Arlington County Plutocrat Board made Nancy Hunt Chair of the Planning Commission so she could prepare mega-infill plans for the Republicrat County Board members to rubber stamp.
You can watch Nanny Nancy Hunt do her nanny thing on-line. County Board meeting last Fall. The Shirlington restaurant owners were pissed and told her to mind her own damn business. About time. She's been spreading malicious rumours about Fairlington residents who don't "go along with the program" for over 20 years. Her own personal life is "off limits" of course.
They're all all the same. The Republicans (e.g., the late Frances Finta) kicked all the "undesirables" out of the Civic Federation. Nancy Hunt did the same with the Fairlington citizens association. These people want Arlington to be like the suburbs were when they were growing up in the 50's. They're neo-segregationists and the County Board is a bunch of Byrd Democrats.
I am sorry to say they all - Civfed, Planning Commission, Arlington County Board - appear to be Urban Village Idiots. Only Urban Village Idiots would call Arlingtonians who want to put renewable energy (solar) on thousands of commercial and public building rooftops in Arlington "environmental nutcases."
What we have in Arlington is a bi-partisan group of McCain Democrats and McCain Republicans running and ruining our lives.
For over a decade Arlington voters have been allowing non-elected elitists who run their little non-profit neighborhood corporations like private clubs to control everything and everybody. This has reached the point where 1 or 2 people who control the civic associations and 10-15 people who control the Civic Federation make all the decisions, and the County Board listens. These are corporations that are responsible to no one except their boards of directors.
The 1 or 2 people who control the Civic Association Inc. typically make deals with developers regarding a site plan without telling the neighborhood and then appear before the Planning Commission and County Board stating the neighborhood approved the site plan. Anyone in the neighborhood who protests is called a troublemaker and a wacko by the Civic Association Inc. directors.
Time to junk the Civic Federation and civic associations. What are they doing for us? Making Arlington an expensive gridlocked mess, that's what!
