Hey, Yupette,
Does the County Board ever listen to voters? Not apparently when it came to the County Board's FY 19 Budget. The FY 19 Budget is "balanced" by cutting popular services which are socially useful and cost little (Arlington Independent Media and monthly secure paper shredding, for example) while spending huge amounts on special interest activities and their constituencies, bicycle trails, all weather soccer fields, aquatics, Taj Mahal recreation centers and schools, and "regionalized" neighborhood parks, so-called affordable housing, and health services.
I took the photo of the monthly shredding event in the Trades Center on April 7th. Hundreds of Arlington residents stood in the cold waiting to shred old bills, tax documents, etc. The program costs $20,000 per year. Did anyone at 2100 do a cost-benefit analysis on this program and on other programs and services being cut? Why start these and other low cost programs and services (WERA-FM is another) if they're going to be cut a few years later?
But we're dealing with one-party government that's controlled the County for almost 40 years, so anything is possible. If they think I'm going to re-elect any one of them based on their party's attacks on Donald Trump, the NRA and local country clubs they're living in a Limo Liberal fantasy world.

Notice the proposed FY 19 service and program cuts and tax and fee increases essentially only affect Arlington residents, whether it's paper shredding or AIM or water usage. Meanwhile, next County Board meeting the County's Board's going to take up the next regional park-recreation-sports-arts activity complex paid for by Arlington's taxpayers located in Four Mile Run Valley.
Neighbors were very unhappy about the redevelopment of the Red Cross site at last night's Planning Commission meeting? Did County Government care? No.
Anyone know a general area of NC where I can move when I retire in 5 years and avoid having to endure what we endure from Arlington Government now?
Buy a 2018 road atlas (paper version). Then go to the Smart Growth America Web site. Draw a 50-mile circle around everywhere in the USA mentioned in the Smart Growth America Web site. Places inside the circles are where you do not want to retire to.
More unhappy residents from another residential neighborhood will attend tonight's Planning Commission meeting regarding the Four Mile Run Valley redevelopment.
Check our Greater Roanoke, there's a new medical school and health care for Seniors is significantly improving.
Animal Welfare League of Arlington is taking dogs and cats from all over to be adopted. So we even have a Regional Animal Shelter on Four Mile Run.
The monthly paper shredding is supposed to be for Arlington Residents only, but that's not enforced.
The County Board's constant harping on "transparency" is just propaganda. What a bunch of BSers.
How many Arlington residents move into subsidized "affordable housing" in Arlington vs. Non-Residents?
County Board didn't listen to Buckingham area voters yesterday, only to another of its pet unaffordable-affordable housing providers.
County Board restored funding for paper shredding on April 21st. Until FY 2020, that is.
County Board gave the finger to the "missing middle" who live next to the Red Cross site on Saturday. Can't say no to any of their 3 pet for-profit non-profit housing corporations. Put it in the middle class's back yards.
County Board sure didn't listen this month.
Didn't listen to residents concerned about the County's tree canopy.
We're just nuisances to them.
