Hey, Yupette,
Ever wonder about the Estate on Wilson Boulevard at McKinley with a big old mansion and acres of open space? The Estate may be for sale. Longtime owner Randall Rouse died at age 100 early this year. He was a noted builder, developer, equestrian, and philanthropist.
The Rouse Estate consists of a historic mansion, some decaying outbuildings that may have once included stables, and about 10 acres of open space.
Did a Google search and can't find what may happen to the Estate. Mr. Rouse contributed substantial amounts to build equestrian facilities for equestrian groups out near Middleburg.
A woman who fox hunted with Mr. Rouse and his wife told me the Estate on Wilson and McKinley will be sold. What the County would do if the property came on the market is not known.
Thanks for this blog.

Speaking of estates, does anyone know if the Reeves farmhouse has been sold, and if so, who bought it?
Earth to always-whining soccer fanatics ----
County should buy this property. Upton Hill Park is at capacity and McKinley School is beyond capacity.
As with other open space on Arlington's borders one has to question how many non-residents would use the amenities if the County owned and operated an outdoor field sports facility on the property.
Who represent this neighborhood in the General Assembly? The land excluding the mansion could be purchased as an addition to Upton Hill Regional Park for field sports. If as many non-residents as residents use Arlington's open space on Arlington's borders the State should fund any purchase of land on this site.
Beautiful to look at as I walk home from the bus stop on Wilson Blvd.
More or less the same County Board that passed up the opportunity to preserve the woodlands at Washington Blvd. at George Mason and allowed them to be redeveloped into ugly McMansions.
What a beautiful photo...Arlington as it used to be. Preserve the entire site as historic and sell it to a Plutocrat who will preserve it equally well or better than Mr. Rouse did.
Right. Hire Nancy Iacomini as the Rouse Estate's Preservation Consultant. But, wait, what's she doing to preserve the Ball Family Cemetery on Washington Blvd. as historic?
Latest in Smart Growth Sleaze - Historic Ball Family cemetery becomes neighborhood multi-use space (including dog exercise area).
Erik Gutshall gets to re-purpose the mansion into "missing middle housing".
Even trailer court trash living down on the N.C. border wouldn't think of desecrating a historic local cemetery.
Per Tuesday's County Board recessed meeting -- a couple hundred trees at Upton Hill will be bulldozed for more sports and recreation amenities and parking.
I was wondering how much longer the forest at Upton Hill would remain.
