County Board Will Again Defer Potomac Yards Land Bay C Discussion

Hey, Yupette,

Thanks for this blog. County Board's February 25th and 28th Agenda is posted and the County Board will again defer discussing whatever deal or deals have been made / are being made regarding Land Bay C in Potomac Yards, owned by European supermarket giant Lidl, until April.

Land Bay C is one of the last undeveloped commercial parcels of any size in Arlington. Residents of Arlington Ridge and other neighborhoods near Potomac Yards are already unhappy about future traffic from I-395 Express Lanes and future Pentagon City development.

Meanwhile, County's New Urbanist Elite is evaluating residential neighborhoods for siting a new 750 student elementary school and a new 1,200 student high school. The choices range from bad to terrible.

It remains to be seen if the County Board even allows Land Bay C to be removed from the Consent Agenda, as it did last month.

Arlington County -- Of the New Urbanists, By the New Urbanists, For the New Urbanists

County should immediately exercise its option to purchase the entire Sequoia Complex on Washington Blvd. and put a new high school there.

New Urbanism in Arlington is like the U.S. in Iraq and Afghanistan, goes on and on and on with no positive outcome and no end in sight.

There's no room in and around the Sequoia Complex for the sports, recreation, and entertainment activities the Limo Liberals and Country Club Republicans demand in a new high school.

So how many thousand new parking spaces will be crammed into Land Bay C?

Residents can pull this item off the Consent Agenda on Saturday.

Rosslyn mixed-use redevelopment will build at least 1300 new parking spaces.

How much Dumb Growth is going to be packed into a few acres?

Dumb Growth? The Urban Village Idiots who micro-manage everyone and everything are preparing to jam 725 students into the Reed School site in Westover with 500 parents dropping off and picking up students every day. Duh.

I agree that the County is being very timid about acquiring land for schools and other facilities. The real puzzler, to me, is why they ignore the use of 375 acres, in this increasingly crowded jurisdiction, for golf. It was a perfectly acceptable use a hundred years ago, but that time is gone. We need land that has trees, grass, and puts oxygen into the atmosphere. Enough in-fill for one tiny County. I notice that the Republicrat Elite who control everything want their upscale neighborhoods to stay just as they were 100 years ago.

Land Bay C was acquired by Lidl after the previous owner was foreclosed. Where was the County? Buying affordable single family homes adjacent to parks so the homes could be torn down to create vacant lots.

It appears there IS a Planet B - somewhere within about 100 light years from Earth. What good does that do me, and my kids who will be living on Earth in 2067?

Right...let's allow the out-of-state REITs, planning consultants, developers, and County Staff who don't live in the County to in-fill everything, aided and abetted by the Urban Village Idiots who do live in Arlington.

Urban Village Idiots? Like the Ward Heeler Democrats who live in A$hton Heights?

I believe certain Elitists can time and space travel instantly to Planet B --- that's why they don't care if Earth is a mess.
