Hi Yupette,
I live in the Four Mile Run Valley and dropped in the FMRV planning charettes several times over the past few days.
Anyone who calls what's been happening regarding FMRV planning "planning charades" has got it right. Any suggestion I made about preserving open space as open space was immediately disparaged by both so-called "community leaders" and Arlington's so-called "planning staff". Any suggestion I made about mitigating traffic and parking resulting from new parks and rec amenities was also dissed.
Appears to me FMRV parks and recreation spaces will be packed with as many people, activities, and vehicles as possible. And, based on County Government's patronage, aka vote-buying with tax dollars, multi-neighborhood canine care centers will be juxtaposed with performing arts centers and a big new WETA production facility.
So, we have to ignore these "planning charades" and determine what the County Board actually promised the performing arts groups, among others, a year or more ago.
No Way, BTW, will I ever vote for Jay Fisette who got all this started, 20 years ago.

Insofar as I can determine there has been zero mention of these planning events by Inside Nova Editor Scott McCaffrey and ArlNow Publisher Scott Brodbeck, who live on the southern slope of Four Mile Run Valley.
Insider deals regarding the redevelopment of Four Mile Run Valley were all done over lunch at Busboys and Poets, a year ago.
Arlington's performing arts groups keep threatening to leave Arlington. That's why.
ArlNow and Inside Nova are boosters for the Democratic Machine and Chamber of Commerce. They only publish what they are allowed to publish. If they were informative they would not receive confidential information, pre-written press releases, access to VIPs. Both are increasingly packed with video advertising and informercials, to the point where one experiences multiple screen freezes when visiting their sites. If you want advance notice of public meetings go to arlingtonva.us
Wrap-up charade is tonight at 7 PM at Drew School.
I didn't see any mention of these "planning" meetings in the Post's Metro Section, but I may have missed it.
Washington Post under Jeff Bezos is another profit center for Amazon. Also becoming increasingly heterophobic.
Apparently, residents of some neighborhoods adjoining Four Mile Run Valley are deliberately uninformed about this by their civic association Democratic ward heelers.
Where was Scott Brodbeck with his obnoxious camera?
We'll see in a couple weeks what the County Board has promised the non-profits.
Too many screen freezes scrolling down Inside Nova Arlington. County's Web site arlingtonva.us has most essential civic information.
Earth to the Vornado County Board - Alexandria is increasingly small business friendly.
Meanwhile, Democratic Regime and Chamber of Commerce booster Scott McCaffrey was covering a food fight over marijuana legalization at the CivFed's monthly meeting.
South Arlington is a desert. We have been completely ignored by County Government that can't do enough for the millennials in North Arlington.
Welcome to Arlington's favorite way of doing business...seek "input" to plans that are already a done-deal, so that when we finally get wind of what they're actually planning, they can say that they provided a platform and solicited opinions from the residents. Exactly the same tactics as they used for the Trolley charette. "Here are five options. Ignore those four, we've brought in a guy from Portland to tell you how awesome the trolley is." Three years later: "We brought this to the residents and got overwhelming approval!"
ArlNow is full of scare news reports, infomercials, and chamber of commerce and board of realtors press releases.
County approved moving the recycling center to the Trades Center but did not say how illegal dumping would be prevented. Or who gets to use the former recycling site. My guess it will be some pet bicycle group.
How many perpetually needy performing arts groups can you squeeze into Four Mile Run Valley? Ask Jay Fisette.
What does the County Board do besides meet in charade public meetings and make secret deals with pet for-profits, non-profits and other pol VIPs in local restaurants?
