Hey Yupette,
I'm a former Civic Federation delegate and dropped by the hospital Tuesday to hear the County's done-deal accessory dwelling unit presentation and consternation from residents of neighborhoods like mine who will suffer the consequences. Also attended the County Planners' presentation at Key School Wednesday night. Met and conversed with Audrey Clement but did not see Libby Garvey. Done deal? No fooling. Obviously worked out between the County Board and County Planning Staff. No data whatsoever presented about positive and negative consequences. Another fire-aim-ready program. Consequences? What are consequences? It's obvious to me that Libby Garvey and the County Board run the County like Bill and Hillary run the Clinton Foundation. Audrey Clement has my vote. Libby's salary should be cut to zero. She's worthless.

Correct. Hundreds of McMansions are going to be repurposed into hotels since every McMansion bedroom has a bathroom.
THANK YOU for this blog. We are overwhelmed by propaganda from the County and the news media.
My buddy from the Marine Corps is a successful contractor and owns a couple of McMansions that he rents long term but he's going to turn one of them into a BnB hotel and we are going to have our other buddys visit Arlington with their Harleys.
We are Patriots and you stinkin' Liberals need to hear the sound of Freedom in your WuseoCrat neighborhoods. So stay tuned between May 25 to June 1, 2017.
Libby Garvey isn't worthless. She's good at stealing campaign signs.
I am also a Harley riding Patriot. We are gonna rent B and B's in your elite neighborhoods and blow you liberals out of bed.
Same Libby Garvey who is all talk when it comes to helicopter noise?
Harley, the worst Arlington Liberals live in a neighborhood named Ashton Heights. It is just off U.S. Route 50 and Glebe Road. You ride under a pedestrian bridge before Glebe Road going West, and immediately turn right onto the side street.
I saw this coming 15 years ago when I was just out of college and lived in a very large rambler home in McLean, owned by a guy who lived in Great Falls as an investment property, with 4 roommates. We each had a bathroom and a large bedroom. There was a huge first floor living area and a huge basement with a spa, a game room, and a rec room. We paid about $800 each plus a share of utilities which amounted to another $200 per month because the home was so big and cost a lot to heat and cool. Someone was always moving out and someone else moving in. So that's the future of lots of Arlington McMansions, group homes, boarding homes, and BnBs.
To Harley: Grow Up and buy an Indian Chief -- total class, not for biker trash.
Appears we will have at least one McMansion B and B on every block. Won't this increase the resident population? What happens if people stay more than 2 weeks? I can't see how any ordinance will be enforced unless the McMansions become actual hotels with 10 or more people staying overnight every night.
There will be a joint Alexandria-Arlington-Falls Church local governments meeting in Alexandria on November 15th and this may be on the agenda.
Future of McMansions...group homes and boarding homes.
I lived in a similar situation in a McMansion located in Annandale. Everyone had a bedroom and a bathroom. Six bedrooms. Eight bathrooms. Someone moved out and someone else moved in every months the two years I lived there. Owner lived in Florida. A realtor collected the rent checks and paid the utilities. About 8 vehicles always parked in and around the driveway. Many complaints by upscale neighbors. Don't know what happened after I moved out and rented a condo in Arlington which I later purchased.
Even the REITs are getting into this - Tuesday night County Board approved a deal with Vornado to convert 50 rental units in a new apartment building to temporary hotel use.
