Obama Administration Asks Inside-the-Beltway Democratic Pols to Accept 10,000 Syrian Refugees

Hey, Yupette,

Latest at 2100 Clarendon Boulevard is not fast-tracking our neighborhoods for urbanization. The Obama Administration is asking Democratic politicians whose jurisdictions lie inside the DC Beltway to accept 10,000 Syrian refugees. The feeling by the pols in the Administration who make such decisions is the DC area economy is robust enough to resettle at least 10,000 refugees. At least 1 million legal immigrants have been admitted to the United States every year for the last 25 years.

Whatever the Administration may say about Syrian refugees being thoroughly vetted before being allowed to resettle in the United States, the fact is the Administration is under tremendous pressure from NATO allies to accept at least 100,000 Syrian refuges during the next year. The people in the Administration who make such decisions will be gone in a year, unless Hillary is elected and some stay on. Look for statements during next month's Christmas County Board meeting from Mary Hynes and Walter Tejada (who have a month left in office) about resettling "several thousand" Syrian refugees in Arlington County.

Given its increasing secrecy, any decisions the County Board makes about resettling Syrian refugees in Arlington will be in closed meetings. So it's likely the first we will know about Syrian refugees resetling in Arlington is when we see them.

Thanks for your blog.

Look for statements from Mary Hynes and Walter Tejada about Arlington being s "welcoming community". To be followed by a series of closed meetings.

Does anyone outside the County Board's, County Manager's and School Board's offices know how many refugees from Central America were resettled in Arlington two years ago?

County Board closed meetings are supposed to involve sensitive matters regarding County employees, negotiations to purchase and sell real estate, and a few other topics...NOT major social and economic decisions.

Street need repaving? Lobby to have it done next Spring before all the FY 17, FY 18, FY 19... Budgets are spent on schools and affordable housing.

Only what we deserve. We had a choice on November 3rd.

I love a post that sets out alleged facts but then says it's all going to be secret so what the poster says can't be challenged. This is the same logic as "there is no proof that aliens didn't attend the first Thanksgiving." Thanks South Park.

So, please provide a citation to support your statements that:

"The Obama Administration is asking Democratic politicians whose jurisdictions lie inside the DC Beltway to accept 10,000 Syrian refugees."

"At least 1 million legal immigrants have been admitted to the United States every year for the last 25 years."

"[T]he fact is the Administration is under tremendous pressure from NATO allies to accept at least 100,000 Syrian refuges during the next year."

I suspect the true answer here is that there is no proof that the County Board is not composed of aliens.

Number of legal immigrants admitted to the United States the past several years was about 1.1 million.

People who benefit from low wage labor want more low wage labor. Ranging from Wash Post owner Jeff Bezos for his Amazon fufillment centers to Donald Trump for his hotels.

About 1.1 million legal immigrants were admitted to the USA in 2014, per the Census Bureau.

Does anyone think the Obama Administration and Obamacrats in local government are going to admit that the goal is to admit 100,000 Syrian refuges across the USA next year and 10,000 of them inside the DC beltway where the unemployment rate is something like 3%?

Have we ever been informed as to the total number of Central American refugees under 21 who were resettled in Arlington since 2013?

Anonymous said...

I have heard that Arlington is going to "accept" 2,000 Syrian refugees. But stay tuned the Christmas County Board meetings for further information.

Post editorial today was ranting that the U.S. has to accept a lot more refugees.

Yo, Blogger. Why don't you ask the County Board what they promised their corporate cronies during their invitation-only business breakfast meeting on November 20th?

Anonymous said...

What a hoot. Do you think Bill and Hill, Donald Trump, Jeff Bezos, and the other 3.25 million (1% of the U.S. population) who own everything and make all the decisions for the 321.75 million who comprise the rest of the U.S. population clean their own mansions, cook their own food, wash their own clothting?

Anonymous said...

LOL. Do you think the Elitists who control VOICE clean their own homes?

Anonymous said...

Ditto for the so-called "Committee of 100".

How many of the County Board's meetings next year will be open, how many closed, how many by invitation only?

How about the County Board discussing what to do about 'aliens' at some one of its meetings -- APS students from families where neither parent lives in Arlington?

But that's OK with 'Blogger' (refugee from ArlNow?) since students whose parents are pulling this scam are only 2% of APS's student population.

Merkel is all over Obama to take Syrian refugees who are streaming into Germany.

Think the CIA VIPs and the CIA contractors who live in 15,000 sq foot mansions in McLean clean their own homes? No way. They're too busy making bad decisions based on poor intelligence.

Don't blame the CIA. We told Him.

I assume whatever the number of refugees who are resettled in Arlington is in addition to the 66,000 population increase planned between now and 2040.

Next few years County budgets are all going to be spent on affordable housing + schools.

What can you expect from a Chicago Pol who received basic political training from the Daley Machine?

Anonymous said...

If it weren't for one of the PW County Supervisors asking what the hell was going on two years ago we would still be clueless about the Central American refugees who were/are being resettled in Northern VA.

Anyone who is looking to retire or send kids to college within a few years should get out of Arlington. The County's economy is being restructured so that only people with massive amounts of disposable income will be able to afford to live here.

The median IQ of people who watch South Park is a negative number.

Not surprising. Elected pols typically spend their time in office making deals that have little or nothing to do with the welfare of the people who elected them. Corporate welfare giveaways for example.

Anonymous said...

Secret deals made during closed meetings, or with special interests in the County Board's offices, has been the norm for at least 2 decades.

We've recently gone from bad to worse, from the CB rubber stamping CZ's wish list to the CB rubber stamping AED's wish list. At least CZ was elected and had to face public criticism.

Politrickster "logic" ---- About a million people already live inside the DC Beltway so what's another 10,000?

Anonymous said...

Not surprising the Amazon-owned Post's editorial pages are ranting about admitting more refugees. Amazon needs more low paid and completely submissive workers for its fufillment centers.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for this. Last year I asked Emma Violand-Sanchez how many refugee children from Central America APS was accepting and was told "Why is that any of your business".

Anonymous said...

I have a good laugh every time I do a Northern Virginia white pages on-line lookup of the pro-diversity activists....almost all are limo liberals.

Anonymous said...

December 12th Christmas County Board meeting agenda should be on-line this Friday evening. Check out the Consent Agenda.

Anonymous said...

I hope an Independent will run against Emma Violand-Sanchez for School Board next year. He or she will have my vote and a campaign contribution.

Anonymous said...

My take on the School Board - they're all Democratic Party hacks and have been for decades.

Anonymous said...

Biggeet abuser of the Christmas County Board Meeting consent agenda was Barbara Favola. Half the consent agenda's items were gifts to Catholic charities.

Anonymous said...

So next year we will likely see another charade played by the School Board about an unexpected increase in school population amounting to 400+ students.

Latest Arlington economic news - office vacancy rate is up.

Anonymous said...

"But Victor, you promised us you were going to slash the office vacancy rate. Remember?"

Anonymous said...

Hell, Yes, I'm also moving out of Arlington, to a still-affordable, still-suburban neighborhood in Fairfax County.

Anonymous said...

We've reached the point in Arlington where the quality of life isn't worth the cost. New Urbanist Believers control everything. Every citizen advisory committee is packed with people who will rubber stamp decisions made behind closed doors by the Urban Elite. The fact that almost 30,000 Arlington residents voted for an independent, a third party candidate, or wrote someone's name on the ballot this month is completely lost on the little group of insiders who control everything and everybody.

Victor Hoskins should take a long walk down Fairfax Drive and see all the office space that's for lease while new office buildings are being constructed.

If you search "Immigration to the United States" on Wikipedia you will learn that over the past decade legal immigration to the U.S. has averaged over 1 million per year, with no decrease during the past economic recession.

Interesting that Post staff writers always claim they have no contact with the editorial side or business side of the newspaper but never seem to write anything critical about Team Amazon.

Based upon Web searches, it appears about 1 million immigrants receive permanent legal residency in the U.S. every year and about 300,000 illegal immigrants who arrive in the United States every year are never deported.

Anonymous said...

About right with a U.S. population increase based upon 4 million births, 2.5 million deaths, 1 million legal and 300,000 illegal immigrants who enter the USA every year and are never deported.
