World Police and Fire Games - Anti-Terrorist Training Exercise

Hey, Yupette,

My husband is employed as a civilian with the Fairfax County Police Department, but we live in Arlington. I work for a NGO that operates worldwide and frequently see and hear reports of police violence against civilians, often by dictatorships.  I love your blog. My husband is quite unhappy with the Department's emphasis on anti-terrorism. That's not why he started a career in law enforcement. So we are counting down the years until he is able to retire.

You should be aware that, yes, thousands of police officers from nations with horrible human rights records are participating and competing in the World Police and Fire Games. They include police from Russia, China, Brazil, Mexico, Singapore, Azerbijan, Turkey, Israel, and Kazakhstan.

And, yes, there is a big "anti-terrorist" shooting competition which is off-limits. Also lots of secret meetings where information about "anti-terrorism" is shared and "anti-terrorist" tactics are discussed among participants. And the CIA is involved in a major way. According to my husband, there is little doubt that some of what is shared in the way of "anti-terrorist" tactics will be used by American police officers against American citizens.

The Washington Post and other media absolutely know the World Police and Fire Games are all about. But they are censoring information in the interests of "national security". Same Post that went after fraternities at UVA based on fiction in "Rolling Stone". So much for 21st Century "Journalism".

The Lexus Liberals who control Arlington, Alexandria, and Falls Church wanted nothing to do with the World Police and Fire Games.

Your husband should take early retirement. FCPD will only get worse. This is a police department that's used every means available to keep one of its officers who executed an unarmed and non-violent man from being indicted.

Twenty years ago the Fairfax County Police Department was one of the best if not THE best county police departments in the United States. Now, thanks to the War on Terrorism, it's just another bunch of cowboy cops.

Anonymous said...

Just co-incidence that Arlington, Alexandria, and FC opted out of participating in the anti-terrorist games.

Anonymous said...

To be fair, the Post turned significant editorial heat on Fairfax County Government for covering up circumstances surrounding the unarmed citizen's shooting by police.

Some of the anti-terrorist shooting events will be held at the multi-jurisdiction police range the Arlington Police Department owns and operates at Dulles Airport.

Just like the Post...Promotes a police event that uses 'undesirables' for target practice one day then complains that 'undesirables' are being shot by police the next day.

Anonymous said...

Then there's the Post's weekly feature - Evil Racist Sexist Elitist Heterosexual White Male(s).

Face it, we're a police state and have been for years.

Like Jeff Bezos?

Anonymous said...

Yes. Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax County Police Departments are completely reactive. 'Community Policing? What's that?

Anonymous said...

How about the "Fire and EMS Units Attempt to Resuscitate a Homeless Person Previously Placed in a Police Choke Hold" Event? Who won?

Anonymous said...

How about the "Teenager Shot and Killed By Police, Toy Gun Found Nearby" Event? Who Won?

Anonymous said...

How about the "How to Make Maximum Overtime Chaperoning Adult Delinquent Special Events" Workshop?

How about the "How to Determine Totally Obsequious Community Leaders vs. Community Leaders Who Are Only Police Friendly" Workshop?

Post's Arlington-Alexandria Metro Section reporter should drive out to Dulles and get a look at the "shooting competition" at the Arlington Police Department's shooting range. Oh, BTW, competition is closed to the public.

Names of the nations participating whose police routinely kill "underireables" (like Mexico and Brazil) are not listed by the Media. Let's not get a protest started.

Anonymous said...

No mention of the World Police and Fire Games on Amnesty International's Web site. AI has a big DC lobbying office.

Plenty of information about police brutality in nations like Mexico and Brazil on Amnesty International's Web Site.

Anonymous said...

You would think the local Lexus Liberal church groups who are all for better treatment for downtrodden minorities would be all over Fairfax County protesting these events.

Anonymous said...

If human rights activists organized protests at the World Police and Fire Games it's likely they would be intimidated (e.g, stopped and searched) by the FCPD, if not arrested.

Anonymous said...

It's appalling what gets censored by the 'local media'.

Anonymous said...

Looks like the same massive PR operation as for Rolling Thunder.

A Brazilian cop was killed in a cycling accident at the Games. Big outpouring of sympathy for him. How about the adolescents in the slums of Rio who are executed by the police and their bodies dumped in a ditch.

Anonymous said...

Ditto for 'young socialists' murdered by the police the slums of Mexico City.

I'm calling Amnesty International in DC on Monday. Next World Police and Fire Games will be in Canada next year.

Anonymous said...

Ask AI where they and all the summer interns they employ were this year.

Anonymous said...

Where do the Games sponsors obtain the firearms used in the shooting competitions?

Anonymous said...

Wild Guess: World Armament Providers, Incorporated, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Central Intelligence Agency.

Anonymous said...

No, being Law Enforcement the competitors were allowed to bring their duty weapons as carry-on baggage.

Anonymous said...

If the Fairfax County Police are shooting and killing unarmed persons with their hands up, what do you think they would do to activists who try to do a major-league reality check on the sites of the various Police Games events?

Anonymous said...

Turkish police participating? Same Turkish police who broke up a Gay Pride Parade in Istanbul three weeks ago with tear gas and rubber bullets?

Anonymous said...

Happy July 4th ---Read the U.S. Declaration of Independence

K.L. said...

Yes, read the entire Declaration of Independence. Have a Happy 4th.

If the DC region's LGBT organizations had called for a boycott of the World Police and Fire Games, based upon police brutality committed against gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered persons in countries like Turkey what would the attendance be?

Anonymous said...

How many other do-gooder NGO non-profits, like Save the Children, could have and should have called for a total boycott of the World Police and Fire Games?

Anonymous said...

Post today = bodybuilders from Fairfax County PD were featured. How about featuring the Turkish Police who tear gassed and fired rubber bullets at participants in a gay pride parade in Istanbul several weeks ago?

Anonymous said...

This is why same old same old do nothings (except raise taxes to pay for their pet vanity infrastructure projects) get endorsed for re-election by the Post's summer interns. Post edits and prints press releases of well funded-incumbents and well-heeled organizations that have big PR teams.

Can someone call the Arlington County Manager's office 011-703-228-3120 tomorrow, July 6, which is not a holiday in the USA, to determine how much in tax dollars were expended supporting anti-terrorist shooting activities at the range Arlington operates at Dulles Airport?

Anonymous said...

Post is only capable of editorially attacking white males whose ancestors lived in Northern and Western Europe.

Anonymous said...

Phone number of Amnesty International's DC lobbying office is 011 202 544 0200

Anonymous said...

Gay Pride Parade in Istanbul where the participants and spectators were tear gassed, and were sprayed with rubber bullets and water cannons was a week ago - June 28th.

Anonymous said...

Post went after a fraternity at the University of Virginia whose members are white males whose ancestors lived in Northern and Western Europe.

Kamal said...

Three are a number of shooting events. One is a paintball competition where law enforcement participants can practice firing non-lethal projectiles at infidels who organize Gay Pride parades in Muslim nations.

Anonymous said...

On the other hand, the body building event must have gone over big with the Rio police.

Call Acting County Manager Mark Swartz at 'Dysfunction Junction' (County Office Building, Clarendon at Wilson) and ask him how much the World Police Games tactical shooting events cost Arlington's sheeple taxpayers.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for this. World Police and Fire Games are NOT the Olympics, Special Olympics, Senior Olympics, etc.

To see what the competitors are doing while on duty in their home countries go to the Amnesty International Web site.

I'm an agricultural assistance advisor with a NGO based here in Washington. I get to see the bodies dumped in ditches 40 kilometers outside the slums.

Isn't that what Washington is all about? Americans are a bunch of lazy good-for-nothing whiners who are always complaining about 'entitlements' like Social Security and Medicare.

In fact, Americans are stupid sheeple who pay trillions to constantly fight wars in the Third World and keep a Third World Elite in power who are 'protected and served' by police forces who have no reluctance to kill anyone who's seen as a threat to the status quo.

Anonymous said...

Isn't that what Washington is all about? Giving billions to repressive Third World dictatorships while cutting social security and medicare.

Anonymous said...

Obama Administration, Homeland Security, DOD, etc., are massively promoting the World Police and Fire Games. That is why there is no protest whatsoever. Homeland Security is equating protests to terrorist threats.

Anonymous said...

FYI, before Hitler started massively persecuting the Jews he eliminated people who he considered a political threat by calling them "Communists' and shipping them off to concentration camps. 'Terrorist' is the 21st Century 'Communist'.

Anonymous said...

Just go back 6 years. President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton couldn't say enough good things about Quadaffi, Mubarak, etc.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, World Police and Fire Games are a big multi-national police - military - national security training exercise, the sporting events are just a diversion.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for this blog.

Anonymous said...

Agree. Terrorism in 2015 = Communism in 1965.

Anonymous said...

There apparently was a huge federal-state-local national security and law enforcement consortium formed to keep human rights activists from staging protests against human rights abusers.

Anonymous said...

Who paid to fly all these cops from Third World nations to the USA for these Games?

Anonymous said...

Hey ya'll, this is the same wonderful Obama Administration that let 1.1 million legal immigrants per year into the USA and provided them with jobs during the last recession.

Jeff said...

F*ing NGOs operating overseas are worthless. Most are used by the CIA to gather intelligence. All Amnesty International had to do was call for a boycott of the World Police and Fire Games -- AI did not have to do anything else.

Mario Rubio for President....Ted Cruz for Vice-President

Anonymous said...

Agree that American NGOs are greedy bull$#!+ers. GreenPeace buzzes a Japanese whaling ship about once every 5 years. Save the Children just got kicked out of Pakistan for being CIA operatives.

Anonymous said...

How many thousand NGO workers are in Haiti?

Anonymous said...

NGO's greedy bull$#!+ers? Anyone else listen to the NPR expose' of the disappearance of $500 million collected for Haiti earthquake relief?

Anonymous said...

Some choice: Dynasty B, Dynasty C, or Ted Cruz and Mario Rubio.

Anonymous said...

I called the Arlington County Manager's Office about the tactical shooting competition at the Dulles Police Firearms Range and nobody knew anything about it.

Anonymous said...

Washington Post is also totally worthless....unless you like abuse stories.

Hey, let's move on here....

Arlington County Government denies all knowledge of the mis-use of the Dulles Police Tactical Ranger that the Arlington PD operates.

Have to wonder how much information was exchanged among the police about how to make 'undesireables' (aka socialists, infidels, homeless, etc.) disappear, never to be seen or heard from again.
