A.Y. endorses Audrey Clement for School Board.
The choice could not be more clear. Barbara Kanninen makes a living from massaging 'problem data' to make corporations, non-profits and government agencies look as good as possible. Audrey Clement makes her living turning raw data into useful information for federal agencies like the Census Bureau.
Barbara Kanninen is a product of a 30-year Arlington Democratic Party Machine, and her campaign is based largely on Democratic Party politics. Her priorities are inflicting more of the same New Urbanist ideology on us, only the APS version. That is, 'More Seats for Students' aka 'More Parking for Parents' Every school a Country Day School, latest will be Abingdon. Huge amounts of the APS budget spent on activities that have nothing to do with education. Don't believe it? Ask yourself -- how many millions did APS spend on Halloween celebrations this year?
Audrey Clement is running as an Independent and has shown that Arlington can save a lot of money for taxpayers while providing the same or better education for students. Her proposal that APS retrofit older schools with solar thermal and photovoltaic is reason enough to vote for her rather than continue unlimited spending for extravagant boutique schools, where providing increased parking for parents is a significant item in APS's capital improvement program.

Voting for Audrey. We are afraid our neighborhood around Thomas Jefferson Middle School will be overwhelmed by traffic from teachers, parents, staff if there is a new elementary school constructed there.

Having inflicted a new elementary school with plenty of additional parking on the Williamsburg neighborhood APS is going to inflict a new addition to Williamsburg Middle School with plenty of additional parking on the neighborhood.
How about building a new school or schools on one of Arlington's many used car lots?
How about a posting about where Arlington's New Urbanist Elite have their second vacation/retirement homes?
Doesn't Kanninen fix messy data so local governments and school systems can apply for awards to make impress the sheeple? I wonder if APS and/or Arlington County is/are one of Kanninen's clients?

Audrey Clement has a huge amount of experience working with information and data....most recently at the Census Bureau.
Abingdon School alone must have spent $500,000 on Halloween over the past month.
Amount spent on Halloween varied school by school....some schools spent a lot, some very little.

In fact Kanninen was hired by APS and County Government to scrub, fix, and repair 'problem' data and information so APS and County Government could apply for and win state and national awards.
Abingdon School 'Planning' is another charade like McKinley, Ashlawn, and Williamsburg.

'problem data' aka minority students who were transferred somewhere else to boost APS's on-time graduation rate.

Ask Barbara Kanninen for a list of her consulting clients. See what excuse she gives for not telling.
Ask APS's VIP architects why there was no public bidding process when architects, engineers, etc., were hired for "more seats for students".

Then there are approximately 400 kids whose parents are not Arlington residents and are connected to the Democratic Machine and are allowed to attend Arlington Public Schools....pre-K through 12.
Washington Post sucks...didn't bother fact-checking Clement's and Kanninen's resumes
Waste of tax dollars? Kanninen is part of the APS bureaucracy that wastes hundreds of thousands of dollars fixing messy and often embarrassing data so APS and Superintendent Murphy can apply for various national awards.
